The open plan ground floor living area is very spacious. The lounge has lovely views over the rolling Tuscan hills.
There is a traditional, handcrafted kitchen, complete with dishwasher, oven, hob and fridge/freezer. A peninsular unit separates the kitchen from the dining area, where there is a table with seating for up to 10 people.
The kitchen opens out to the private courtyard and there are steps leading to a higher terrace with a brick built barbecue.
For your enjoyment we have provided a docking station and speakers for your iPod (it can also be used with iPhones), with a speaker connection for MP3 players.
The “Montalcino Room” is on the ground floor; it has twin beds, next to it is shower room with a toilet and hand basin.
A staircase leads from the lounge to the first floor where there are three double bedrooms.
The “Florence Suite”, the main bedroom, is large, light and airy, with a king size bed. It has an en suite bathroom with power shower, toilet, bidet and washbasin. There is a door from the bedroom leading to a private balcony overlooking the terrace.
The “Siena Room” has a king size bed, and double doors that open to reveal wonderful views.
he “Pienza Room” has twin beds.
All the bedrooms have large wardrobes and drawer space.
The family bathroom offers a power shower, bath, toilet, bidet and washbasin.
Separate from the villa, and located outside, is a utility room, with a useful laundry area and washing machine.

Near the villa is a large swimming pool, with views overlooking the Tuscan countryside. The pool is shared with a small number of other apartments and has a dedicated changing area. In the opposite direction, just 60 metres from the house, is a lovely trattoria, where they sell local produce including their own famous pecorino cheese made on the premises. Here you can enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner, or grab a morning coffee and pastry while taking in the spectacular views of the surrounding hills.
Usually weeks are from Saturday to Saturday, although we may be able to accommodate you with alternative days. We have a budget rate for parties of 4 or less
Prices are in Euros and include tourist taxes, cleaning and meet and greet facilities. An English management company is on hand to answer all your queries.
The Tuscany region
Siena, the region’s main historic city, is a short driving distance, about 40km, from the villa, and is a ‘must see’. It plays host to the twice-yearly “Il Palio” – the famous bareback horse race - around Il Campo, the piazza. Il Campo has many excellent restaurants around its perimeter, where you can sit and enjoy a coffee or a glass of wine and watch the world go by.
Florence, famous for all its art and culture is only 105km – you can drive, but a train from Buonconvento (10km) may suit you better.
Further afield, but easily visited for a day out, are the equally beautiful and fascinating towns of Arezzo, Assisi, Perugia, Cortona, Todi and Orvieto, each with its own history, culture and many Renaissance art exhibits.
Away from the towns, a visit to either of the abbeys at Sant’Antimo, or Monte Oliveto Maggiore, will leave you grateful for the timeless peace and tranquillity of this beautiful countryside.
Vergelle is situated in the heart of the Val d’Orcia, which is part of the Crete Senesi (Siena’s clays) a UNESCO world-heritage site. Landscapes and buildings are preserved for all to enjoy. The Val d’Orcia offers unparalleled views of characteristic Tuscan landscapes with rolling hills, winding riverbeds and acres of olive groves and vineyards. The area has many historic buildings and features and is an art lover’s paradisevilla is ideally located for shorter trips to many beautiful towns:
Montalcino, just 15 minutes across the valley, features an ancient fortress, the beautiful Piazza Del Popolo and fantastic views over the Val d'Orcia. This small town has an abundance of small independent shops, wine cellars and famous coffee bars. You can buy wine, leather bags, jewellery, and plenty of other quality local craft ware, if you want to add to the luggage going home!
World famous Montepulciano is 30km away, Pienza, 21 km, San Quirico d’Orcia, 13km. A spa and wellness centre is at Bagno Vignoni, 11km.
Vergelle is just 4km from Torrenieri, which has a number of shops and which will provide everything you need, a new supermarket, various bars and restaurants, a bank, post office and a pharmacy.
San Giovanni d’Asso, 6 km in the opposite direction has similar facilities.
