Villa Vesta is an antique stone construction, restored with care and love. It is located in a splendid 15,000 square meter park, in which there are two other villas also reconstructed and divided into holiday apartments. Villa Viviana A, B, and C are in these other two villas.

The three antique villas and the park that circles them were originally constructed as a typical Tuscan farm with a main house and a smaller service building.

The buildings have been restored in a way that exalts the beauty of the ancient stone walls and of the terracotta decorations, and lawns and flowers are grown in the wide spaces that divide them. A wide lawn also surrounds the swimming pool.

The whole is part of a splendid landscape, the kind of typical landscapes which, together with the artistic treasures kept in the cities, has made Tuscany famous all over the word: a horizon of gentle hills that intersect like the waves of a green sea, bordered here and there by the dark green rows of slim cypresses and marked by the ordered lines of the vineyards.

Further details indoors

The interior of Villa Vesta is just as fascinating as the outdoor.

The ancient vaulted ceilings, made of the typical pink Tuscan bricks have been restored in all of the room at the ground floor. The original ceilings made of beams and terracotta flat tiles have been preserved on the top floor.

The rich and elegant decoration is in the typical style of the Tuscan countryside, and it creates an atmosphere of charm and warmth that will enchant you.

You will enter a large living room, divided into two areas by a large arch decorated with bricks and terracotta ornaments: on one side there is a nice stone fireplace, comfortable sofas and a satellite television, on the other side there is the dining table. From the living room you will enter the beautiful and roomy brickwork kitchen.

The kitchen is well equipped, with four-burner cooker, oven, refrigerator with freezer, dishwasher and small appliances. In the kitchen you will also find a brickwork barbecue to grill with all the comforts.

On the bottom floor there is also a bedroom with a double bed and a bathroom with shower.

A stairway made with terracotta tiles leads upstairs, where you will find three other bedrooms and a large bathroom. Two of the bedrooms have a double bed, the third one has two single beds. You will be able to enter the splendid bathroom with whirlpool bath tub and shower from the corridor.

Further details outdoors

From the balconies and the windows of all of the rooms you will have a wide and unobstructed view of the park, or of the flowered gardens with the pool, and of the hills on the background.

During the entire length of your stay at Villa Vesta, you will be surrounded by nice things, carefully maintained both inside and outside the villa. You will feel like welcomed guests, for whom everything has been prepared with love, to make your stay in this Tuscan land full of history, ancient civilizations, art and tradition, even more beautiful and unforgettable.

The villa is equipped with central heating, a direct phone line and with a sound system. The villa is surrounded by a large lawn, bordered by a short hedge made up by rose shrubs, perfumed genistas, oleanders and other Mediterranean species. Among these a few slender young cypresses rise their pointed dark green foliage.

The lawn is interrupted here and there by a few century-old olive trees with knotty trees and thin silver-green leaves.

A pathway tiled with terracotta tiles will lead you to the house. All around the house there is an area tiled with terracotta tiles, decorated with small flowerbeds and jars filled with flowers.

In front of the living room the tiled area gets larger and becomes a welcoming patio.

This area is shaded by a magnificent olive tree, and it is equipped with tables, chairs, beach umbrellas and deck chairs. It is perfect to relax “al fresco” in peace.

From the balconies and the windows of all of the rooms you will have a wide and unobstructed view of the park, or of the flowered gardens with the pool, and of the hills on the background.

The Tuscany region

Located in the heart of Italy, Tuscany is surely one of the most famous Italian landscapes. The essence of this beautiful region are its natural, artistic, and cultural heritage.

Bounded by the Ligurian and the Tyrrhenian Sea (two arms of Mediterranean), this region is divided into ten provinces, whose capitals are Arezzo, Florence, Grosseto, Livorno, Lucca, Massa-Carrara, Pisa, Pistoia, Prato and Siena. Florence is the capital city of the region itself.

The region was populated first by the Etruscans on the 7th century BC, and about 500 years later by the Romans.

The words Humanism and Renaissance evoke Tuscany, as immediately as Pope evokes Rome: just think that between the fourteenth and the sixteenth century, both these ages were born here. The entire region attained a very important artistic role.

If you are keen on art and nature… well you’re definitely in the right place! ;-)

Indeed the fathers of Italian painting, architecture and sculpture lived in this beautiful towns: such as Cimabue, Giotto, Brunelleschi, Donatello, Botticelli, Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo. This is the reason why the entire region is rich in museums where thousands of amazing works are kept. You’ll be impressed by the majesty of the many ancient palaces (for examples “Palazzo Vecchio”, “Palazzo Pitti”, “Palazzo Medici”), monasteries and villas that are springing up all over the Tuscany.

Spring and fall are the best times to visit Tuscany, because the climate is mild. Bus-lines and trains connect the larger towns, but having a car would be a great advantage, and you would be easily able to enjoy the small towns and vineyards, which represent some of Tuscany’s strong points.

The “Chiantigiana road” is a must to see: it produces some of Italy’s finest wines. This is the colourful and legendary road of the “Chianti" region. The grape cultivation dates back to the Etruscan times. One of the biggest pleasures will be sipping different wines, at the wineries or at the wine bars scattered in the towns.

What about a drop in on “Mugello”? It is a countryside surrounded by oaks, chestnut trees and by the Apennines, This land of artists and painters have been source of inspiration in its farmhouses and colours. with kind people, authentic cooking, good wine, plus a great tradition in handicrafts.

The Apuan Alps are a monumental work of the nature. They consist in some of the highest peaks in the region: This regional park sets up the chance for those who want to practice trekking, cycling, horse riding or simply walking to enjoy this beautiful landscape.

Versilia is an area of 20 km sandy beaches located in the north of the region. The seaside with the colourful bathing areas is rich in bars and meeting places. Camaiore, Forte dei Marmi, Massarosa, Pietrasanta, Seravezza, Stazzema and Viareggio are the towns of this beautiful coast.

Another great attraction of this region is the archipelago. The largest island is Elba: more than one hundred kilometers of coast.

Curiously enough, since the Etruscans introduced the use of fresh herbs, the Tuscan cooking is still based on vegetable dishes, bread-based soups, meats perfumed with sage, rosemary, and thyme. Moreover the secret of its success is the good care and the devotion to guarantee the quality of the products of the land... crostini of chicken liver, soups, tortelli with Bolognese sauce, “pappardelle” with hare sauce or with boar sauce, boar hunter style, fillet of beef, salted cod with tomato sauce, ricciarelli, cantucci, Tuscan salt-less bread… We’re sure your mouth is already watering!

A holiday in Tuscany is an experience that will bring you back happy memories for the rest of your life.

Montaione

Villa Vesta is approximately 1 km (half a mile) from Montaione, where you will find the closest shops.

In the medieval hamlet be sure to visit the church of San Regolo, where the “Madonna del Buon Consiglio” (school of Cimabue, XIII century) is kept, the Palazzo Petrorio, with its Natural History Museum, and, just out of the centre, the chapel of the Santissima Annunziata, with a remarkable fresco painting of the seventeenth century.

Around Montaione there is a large number of burgs and cities to be visited. Besides the famous cities of art, Florence, Pisa, Siena and Lucca, which can be reached in a one-hour drive, close by you will find the medieval burgs of San Gimignano, Volterra and San Miniato.

A special remark is deserved by the monastic complex of “San Vivaldo”, with its “Sacro Monte”, located at only 5 km (3 miles) from Montaione. It represents, with its series of small chapels, a scaled down version of Jerusalem as it was at the time of the Crusades.

The closest train station is Castelfiorentino, at 5 km (3 miles). The closest airports are “Galileo Galilei”, in Pisa, and “Amerigo Vespucci”, in Florence, both at approximately 45 km (28 miles).

To stay at Villa Vesta it is necessary to have a car.
