The Dordogne region

The Dordogne, which corresponds to the former province of Perigòrd is itself divided into four regions the Périgord(s) Noir, Blanc, Vert and Rouge, its geography and natural resources make it one of the untouched regions of Europe, and the newly-formed Parc Naturel Périgord-Limousin aims to conserve it as such. It is a fertile, productive landscape dotted with some of the most beautiful villages and castles in France. The climate is temperate with mild winters and long hot summers. The the area is noted for its cuisine, particulary its truffles and foie gras and the local wines include the famed Bergerac reds and whites together with the sweet Monbazillac

The village Montagrier is situated in the heart of the Périgord Vert overlooking the verdant Dronne Valley, in an area famous for its canoeing, cycling, walking and equestrian activities. Mountain bikes ( VTT) can be hired at Montagrier cycle centre, together with canoes at the nearby river. Lake Jemaye in the Double Forest is close by. Here can be found water sports, swimming areas, beach, and associated activities. Rock climbing sites are also to be found in the area.

"Gite in pleasant village with an excellent Auberge"

On arrival the exterior of the gite seemed a little run down but on entering the property it was deceptively spacious with a good kitchen, smart lounge and good double bedroom. The downstairs double b… More

We are happy to hear you enjoyed your Holiday and thank you for your constructive comments. It was unfortunate this year that there was a long period of heavy rain in late summer, which prevented much garden maintenance on change over days. The cottage garden is small and grassed, but adequate for its use in supporting the pool terrace. Although there are only two sun loungers there are other seats within the garden and terrace. Off road parking is provided and is sufficient for our Landrover. A programme of works are being carried out in the garden this winter which will lead to new photographs for the 2015 season. The Village Auberge is enjoyed by all of our guests and provides excellent value for money. We hope your are able to return to Les Crecerelles in the future.

"A wonderful relaxing week, the cottage is ideal and perfectly positioned for exploring the beautiful local area."

Les Crecerelles was exactly what we had hoped for. Positioned in a lovely unspoilt village in the Dordogne that has a welcoming Auberge with a tiny shop attached. The weather was magnificent so eating al fresco on the terrace and a splash in the pool a real treat. The house and especially the kitchen were well equipped, a fine collection of DVDs and books, including local attraction guides and we were made to feel welcome by both John and Nina and the locals. We all thoroughly enjoyed our week with visits out to local towns including the lovely Brantome, cycling from the local VTT centre in Montagrier and tennis on the impressive courts in Tocane. A great holiday for everyone.

This property was dirty
No hot water for three days
Dirty floors
Damp in down stairs batheroom
Dirty bathrooms
dirty toilet
No toaster
the pictures on the web were taken years ago
shutters and front door would not open /close properly
dog poo in garden
Dirt and fluff in the dryer

We are very sorry that this reviewer did not enjoy his time at Les Crécerelles.

The untimely failure of the hot water system was quickly rectified and subsequently found to be caused by the gas supply being contaminated by water, which was outside of our care and control.

We ask all of our guests to inform us without delay of any defects or complaints regarding the property, in order that they can be investigated and rectified. During the guest's stay, no other complaints were received from them.

Only after the guests returned home were we informed of a number of complaints regarding the property. The cottage was by this time reoccupied after a normal housekeeping changeover. The cottage has been fully occupied by numerous guests since and at no time have any subsequent complaints been made.

We believe that the comments left by all of the other guests staying a Les Crécerelles both before this reviewers stay and since, are a better reflection on how we would wish the property to be reviewed. Some of these comments can be seen in the photograph section of the property
