Babeau has been restored and furnished to a very high standard. This 150 year old farm house is an ideal setting giving you elegant gîte accommodation. Set within a small XII century hamlet and located at the end of a quiet one-car lane.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Gironde region

Locally there are many historic sites and attractions to visit. Information can be obtained fron the local tourist information office located in Monsegur.

A lake side fresh water beach is about 30 mins away, very popular destination.

The west coast long sandy beaches are about 90 mins away. Great for surfing and just miles upon miles of sand - good facilities available.

An easy drive to many attractions include karting tracks, water parks and zoo.


Monsegur Gironde / Dieulivol area

Dieulivol is a small hamlet where basic provisions can be bought in the village 0.5 miles away. The local supermarkets are located in Monségur.

Monségur (is 5 km away) is a pretty XIII century Bastide town set around a market square which is host to a weekly market and also a weekly night market within the peak summer season.
There are cafés, bars, boulangerie, pharmacy, supermarket, banks and popular pizzeria/restaurant which hosts weekly live music, other restaurants are also located in and around the town.
It is known for its famous Jazz Festival - Monségur 24 Hours du Swing that takes place every July. It's an unforgettable weekend of jazz, wine and dance.

The town of Duras, perched on an escarpment above the river Dropt valley is a few kilometres away. Here are local shops, bars and restaurants as well as the Château of the Ducs de Duras, now a museum. The château hosts concerts and events including a wine fair in late July or August, featuring the local appellation - Les Côtes de Duras. Duras has a lively open air market Monday mornings where locals sell fresh produce, fish, meats, baguettes and pastries, household goods and flowers.

The usual large French Hypermarkets all within 25 mins drive at La Reole, Marmande and Langon.

BERGERAC AIRPORT is about 40 mins drive to the house. A few airlines fly here such as Ryan air, BMI Baby. All the main car hire companies are available.

TOULOUSE AIRPORT is about 2 hours drive to the house, all the main car hire companies are available.

Check your regional airports for airlines and routes.

Eurostar/ TGV train can stop at either Libourne (40 mins drive via taxi) or Bordeaux station ( 1 hr drive) all the main car hire companies are available. We would recomend that you change at Lille which means walking across the platform, if you change at Paris this means having to travel across the city.

There are many airlines that fly from regional airports to our 3 local airports, check with your local airports on flight operators.

When flying be careful of extra charges with budget air lines, usually they will cost you alot more than advertised. We recomend BA.

Surrounded by vines, plum orchards and meadows, Babeau has accommodation for 12 (14 with sofa bed), a private swimming pool and an acre of gardens with no near neighbours.
The property is located at the end of a dead end one-car lane with no near neighbors. It overlooks the Dropt valley with its Bordeaux and Duras appellation vineyards.

Most of the house's original features have been retained, including exposed stone walls, beamed ceilings and an open fireplace. Skylights have been added to accentuate light and create an open feeling to the lounge/ dining room and kitchen. Babeau has retained its original open fireplace, while the entire house is centrally heated.
All rooms are decorated with specially made teak furniture.

There are 3 newly built bathroom/showerooms with wc's + a further additonal wc.

6 bedrooms in total, 2 doubles and 4 twin rooms sleeping comfortably 12 persons. A double sofa bed can also be used.
Thee bedrooms are on the ground floor all quite large. One bedroom has a queen bed and faces
the front garden. The other rooms have two single beds and have views over the neighboring vineyards and fileds.
There are three bedrooms on the upper floor. The large master bedroom has an en suite shower room and a terrace overlooking the vineyards and the Dropt valley. Across the mezzanine are two further bedrooms, with two twin beds in each room.

Further details outdoors:
The 9 x 4 metre swimming pool is heated via solar cover in the cooler months and is protected with a child-safe alarm. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AN ALARM ONLY - THE POOL IS NOT FENCED.
Child swings, slide and climbing rope. Table tennis.

The property has is own plum orchard to the rear and it's front garden is filled with flowering plants, cherry, pear, apricot, olive and apple trees.
