The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Gironde region
NEARBY TOWNS Slightly further afield (within 25 minutes drive) are the towns of Duras, Marmande, Ste Foy la Grande, and Sauveterre-de-Guyenne.
Each hold a colourful weekly market, selling local produce. These towns also offer a larger range of shops, including Supermarkets, Restaurants, Bars, Banks and Estate Agents. Each July Monsegur hosts the International Monsegur Swing Jazz Festival.
The area abounds with excellent vineyards and restaurants. Not only is the region famous for wines but also produces excellent prunes, 'Pruneaux d'Agen'.
About 40 to 50 minutes drive away are Eymet, Bergerac and St. Emilion, which are all worth exploring. St. Emilion is our favourite and to give you a flavour of the town, in the summer, an open sided tourist tram takes you on a short interesting tour of the ancient cobbled streets and nearby vineyards. In our opinion, St. Emillion has grabbed the world's share of excellent restaurants.
BORDEAUX The city of Bordeaux offers an interesting day out for shopping or sight seeing. This could be combined with a trip to the coast, which is about two hours by car. There are many protected natural areas by the sea and an ornithological park at Bassin d'Arcachon.
MUSIC During the summer months fetes are held in nearby villages and towns when sometimes the town square plays host to visiting musicians.
Monsegur Gironde / St Ferme area
MONSEGUR The nearest town is Monsegur with Supermarket, Restaurants, Weekly Market, Banks and Bars - and is just 5 mins drive away.
The area is served by airports at Bordeaux, Bergerac and Toulouse and there is a first class motorway and TGV rail sytem.

Easter, July, August, September, Xmas & New Year: 3000 Euros per night.
All other periods: 2400 Euros per night.
Prices include the use of all facilities and the services of your personal chef and staff.

I just wanted to reiterate what a fantastic holiday we all had. On the way home we could not stop talking about the wonderful service that we received from you and everyone else involved. We had hoped before we went to the Chateau that it would live up to the photos on the website but in fact it far surpassed them in every way. The standards were so high in every aspect but the professionalism and friendliness of the staff was exceptional. We have all agreed that it was the holiday of a lifetime and no other holiday could possibly match this one. For a group of 12 people to all agree on that is amazing but absolutely true!! We just wanted to tell you what a fantastic time we had at Chateau Gageante. The week we spent was really like a dream. What a beautiful house, in the perfect setting. We were amazed at the time and attention given to the restoration and appointment of the whole house. The best part of the house though was the staff! Every wish we had was fulfilled. Debbie was such a fun and loving presence the whole time, really taking care of us all. The fabulous creations of Marc are still being commented on. We looked forward to every meal and each one was better than the one before. Noel was always at the ready to accommodate our needs. Each one of the staff was happy and relaxed and gave the whole place a feeling of being at home. We just could not have been more pleased with the whole experience. Thank you Deborah, and please extend our thanks to the owner of the Chateau, for allowing us this opportunity to truly feel like the King and Queen of the Castle! Karen & Eric, Switzerland.
