Home description

Maggie from Leicestershire wrote in our Guest Book "Thank you so much for restoring our faith in French private rental properties. La Maison Pierre is a perfect home from home".

Guests Stephen and Monica e-mailed the following comments :-
"We had a wonderful holiday in your fantastic home, we opened the door and WOW!!! - what a first impression.
The house is truly amazing and the welcome hamper was very much appreciated.
The weather was unbelievable - hot and sunny, not a cloud in sight - we were able to revisit places in the Dordogne (Bergerac, St. Emilion, Sarlat), as well as the lovely Monsegur area. Thank you so much for the opportunity to "Live the Dream".

Within an hour of both Bordeaux and Bergerac airports, in a fabulous location with countryside views, yet only a few minutes level walk to the centre of the medieval "bastide" town of Monsegur, with it's bars, resataurants and shops. Perfect for a relaxing holiday.

The centrally heated house has 4 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and separate WC.. The spacious, bright lounge with vaulted ceiling and wood-burning stove has English TV, wifi ADSL internet access and free phone calls to landlines in EU, USA and Canada. The top of the range dining kitchen is fully equipped. The house is all on one level, with south west facing, open and covered, terraces leading to a garden of almost one acre.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Gironde region

Monsegur, in the centre of Aquitaine, is the perfect base for exploring South West France.

With excellent, quiet roads, winding their way through wonderful, rolling countryside, you can readily visit all of the interesting places and historic sites the Gironde, Dordogne and Lot et Garonne have to offer.

The Bordeaux wine region is the largest in the world. Around Monsegur you can visit many local producers and have the opportunity to sample and buy the vintages of individual chateaux. Excellent red, white and rose wines are produced in the area. St. Emilion and Pomerol are only a short 45 minute drive away and even closer you can visit the fine chateaux of Sauternes to taste the exceptional sweet wines.

Bordeaux. One of Europe's finest and most historic cities is only an hour away. You can explore the medieval old town, visit fine museums and galleries and travel on the new, sleek tram system.

St. Emilion is a Unesco world heritage site , utterly charming and full of beautiful architecture, yet only a short drive away.

Bergerac, on the River Dordogne is another local delight. Splendid shopping, boat trips, fabulous markets and much more are all available.

The Atlantic coast is around one hour away. You can explore Europe's highest sand dune at Pilat and visit the many resorts of the Atlantic coast, with their fine beaches and excellent seafood restaurants.

Visit the medieval villages, towns and castles, many dating back to the twelth century and before. They offer a fascinating insight to the entwined history of France and England.

Local markets are a true delight with an abundance of fresh produce on offer and a wonderful atmosphere. There is one nearby every day. There are excellent restaurants in the area, (the fixed price menus being of particularly good value).

Golf, fishing, cycling, walking, swimming and tennis are all available.

Monsegur Gironde area

Monsegur has much to offer the visitor.

The historic market square has bars, restaurants, chocolaterie, shops, banks and much more. Enjoy a relaxing drink or a meal on one of the many terraces that surround this medieval square. This little hilltop town hosts a famous jazz festival every July "24 heures du Swing" with visitors from around the world. There is also a weekly jazz night at Les Colonnes restaurant.
Friday morning is market day.
For the more active there is a swimming pool and all weather tennis courts.

Nearby Duras (5 minutes by car) where you can visit the fine chateaux and for a small fee you can tour the ancient rooms and visit the interesting local museum.

Historic Bergerac on the Dordogne River is only a short drive away.

Guestbook for La Maison Pierre

We had a fantastic honeymoon, the area is fantastic, people so friendly and your house was the perfect place for us to relax and feel at home. We felt really at home in your home from the start.
S & S, Scotland

The villa is so beautiful and the kitchen is just amazing. My mum and sister enjoyed cooking lovely rustic meals which the rest of us enjoyed tucking into.
The weather was so warm and sunny (mid October) and we spent many lazy afternoons in the garden playing cards and sipping lovely wines.
It was a benefit to visit out of season as we had the place to ourselves.
The De Silva family from 4 continents!

As for La Maison Pierre, it's difficult to know where to start because we really did have such a fantastic holiday. The house is extremely comfortable and a real home from home. We virtually had wall to wall sushine - 1 poor day.
Many thanks for the opportunity to stay in such a great property in a part of France which we love and which we feel offers everything we need for a perfect holiday.
All in all we had the most wonderful two weeks, contributed to in no small part, by the lovely and very comfortable base we had to come home to each evening and thanks again to you for that.
The Macshannons, Scotland

Stunning house, full of extra special touches and loads of luxury. Didn't want to go home.
Mr. and Mrs. Barlow, Solihull, UK

Wish we had found you sooner! We wouldn't have visited Tuscany for the last five years if we had known about La Maison Pierre and Monsegur.
Mr. and Mrs. Jennings, Cheshire, UK
