Farmhouse | 5 bedrooms | sleeps 12
A beautiful classic French farmhouse with massive outhouses around a central courtyard. All the atmosphere of a french Farmhouse with all modern expectations. 5 bedrooms have a bathroom alongside them. There is an additional bedroom suitable for children but with no bathroom alongside it. We have , internet, TV, ultra modern kitchen and central heating.Perfect all the year round. However the great difference with our property is the wonderful outdoor living area with sofas, dining room table for 16, beautiful for relaxing for most of the year.A fully fitted outdoor kitchen with dishwasher alongside the glorious heated pool overlooking the countryside. We also have a huge indoor cinema with lots of movies alongside the pool for the occasional wet day. and a greta games room. We designed our perfect holiday house and we rent it out when we are away. We chose the area because we loved it, lots of chateaus, ancient towns, the river with boating and , of course the Caves. Monpazier one of the most beautiful medieval villages in France is our local village with lots of boutique type shops and restaurants as well as croissants for breakfast. Heaven.

About this location
The Dordogne region
We are in the Dordogne, a magical unspoilt part of France. Also known as the Gastronomic area of france. The local food is sensational, we live on Duck and local cheeses, fruit and vegetables, there are great restaurants everywhere but the local produce is so good , you won't need to eat out much. There is a local market in a near by village every day. The towns are unspoilt by modern development, time has passed this part of France by.
However, fortunately there are masses of tourist attractions to visit if you have the determination and lots for kids to do as well. The river Dordogne meanders through offering lots of opportunities fro swimming boating and picnics.
The area of france is also known as Chateau country. It was owned for a large part of its history by the English which is why there are so many stunning fortified towns and villages.
beautiful unspoilt country for bike riding and exploring.
Perfect climate even for us fussy Australians. Hot enough to swim from April to October. Beautifully cold in winter with snow.
So many festivals in area particularly in the summer they publish a book which lists them all, every weekend there is an antique market or other event close by.
We are in the heart of Bastide country. Within a 15 minute drive you can visit the most beautiful Bastide towns, fortified Mediaeval villages such as Beaumont,Villereale,Monpazier and Cadouin. Each of the local villages has a day market with lots of fresh local produce and a night market with music and wonderful food from the region.
There are may chatreaus nearby so with small children you can go on short day trips and see a different tourist attraction every day. There are also lots of attractions specially for children as this is the holiday area for the French so children are well catered for.

"Gorgeous house in peaceful location"
We have just had to reluctantly leave this wonderful house in a perfect rural location and although I have never written a review before, this time I can honestly say that we were so touched and impressed by this house and the surroundings that I wanted to thank the owner for creating such a lovely experience. The house is stylish and warm, very chic yet rustic, with so many little touches that made us feel welcome and at home. We were charmed by the house but the pool area and summer kitchen were just amazing. A stunning space, surrounded by lavender plants on one side and a view onto sunflower fields and distant woods on the other. ( There is also a rather plain looking barn, but you dont have to look that way!) Nothing disturbs the peace and quiet, and we spent many happy hours lounging, cooking lovely food from the nearby markets ( great gas range there, along with one of two huge fridges and two dishwashers), and sitting chatting late into the night with the sound of the crickets chirping. The nearby town of Monpazier is gorgeous, so pretty, and the first night we went to a jazz concert there. There was a market midweek, and the last morning an antique market. There was a market every day of the week in nearby pretty towns, and one night we went to the night market in Beaumont, which was a great knees up - we sat at long tables and ate and then danced in the square till past midnight. Unlike some parts of the Dordogne, this part feels authentically French, with locals not crowded out by expats. As tourists, we were made to feel very welcome and the people we encountered in shops, etc could not have been warmer.
To return to the house for a moment! We went as a couple and had 2 friends and then a family of 3 visiting and staying - it was very roomy and perfect for us but I would say that ten adults in the house might be too many. There are two charming double bedrooms on the first floor, which share a lovely bathroom. On the top floor there is a kind of large, beamed, open space with a double bed, two child beds in a space through a doorway, and a shower room shared by these. Then over near the pool there is a little converted area which has a lovely double bedroom with stylish shower room, up quite a steep new staircase, and in the bottom area, another couple of child beds. Near here there is also the washer and drier which has another outside type loo. The pool has an alarm system fitted, which remained a bit of a mystery to us, but we coped ok, though we did get a few 'alarming' moments! Very good though to have it as its a safety feature if you have young children about, which we didn't.
The house is in a little hamlet without shops, although a friendly neighbour popped by and said we could buy some eggs and veggies from the other neighbour. It's a five minute drive to Monpazier for bread etc - lovely artisan baker, and a real pleasure as its through lush woods along a quiet road with a real feeling of peace and quiet.
Hope this review has been helpful and that if you go, you enjoy the experience as much as we did.
