My French Dream is set in the heart of Monflanquin. A beautiful bastide. So beautiful, in fact, that it is officially classified as 'one of the most beautiful villages in France'. Monflanquin was founded in 1256 and is steeped in history and surrounded by châteaux, castles and vineyards as well as breathtaking scenery from it's hilltop location and a lake to stroll around or picnic. Just off the village square is pedestrian lanes known as 'carrerots'. It is in one of these quaint lanes that you will find your house.
A short stroll from the front door will take you to many, good quality and reasonably priced, restaurants, bars, cafes and not forgetting bakeries for your fresh baguettes or croissants in the morning. At the back of the house is the village library where you will find computers with internet access as well as English books and CDs. The village square hosts weekly markets and many festivals. The village also has banks with ATM facilities, a 'Casino' supermarket and many speciality shops as well as a swimming pool and museums.

Walk in to a separate entry hall with wooden floors and a place to hang your coats. Take the wooden staircase to the open plan living area which displays the original stonework and history of the newly renovated home. The living area has wooden floors, high ceilings with beams and drenched with natural light from the two skylights and two windows going all the way to the floor. The living area boasts a fully equipped, u shaped, kitchen, dining area for four (however the table can be extended) and a spacious lounge area comprising two modern sofas and one arm chairs. Modern spot lighting sets a relaxed mood for the evening (time to enjoy a glass of the local wine) and highlights the historical features of the room.
Back down the stairs you will find two generously sized bedrooms with beams and windows giving a charm of their own. Both bedrooms have a double bed. The shower room has a large shower and vanity with plenty of room to move. There is also a separate toilet and storage cupboards. The house has many electric heaters for every room and linen and towels are supplied.

The Aquitaine region
An unspoiled part of South West France. Many Chateaux such as Biron, Gavaudun, Bonaguil and Beynac are just a short drive away.
Beautiful villages and medieval towns such as Penne-d'Agenais, Monpazier, Belves, Domme and Sarlat. You can also visit many caves and wineries. The interesting architecture, history, countryside, markets, restaurants and vineyards make it a perfect holiday destination.
Monflanquin is a 13th century Bastide. Surrounding the village square, Place des Arcades, are many impressive stone buildings such as the home of the Black Prince. Leading off the square are lanes known as carrerots, one of which is where you will find your house. In the square are restaurants and shops and it is here you will find the weekly market, entertainment and festivals and is only a 1-2 minute walk from your house.
A short stroll from the square is the impressive15th century church set on top of the hill and from here you can stroll further around the hilltop town to take in the breathtaking views from the picnic tables. Another great place to picnic is the lake which is down the hill from the house, approx 15 min walk or 2 min drive, stroll around and feed the ducks.

"A place to immerse yourself in French life and enjoy all the modern comforts."
We stayed in this meticulously restored villa on a recommendation and were thrilled with what was offered, comfortable furnishings, a fabulous open plan kitchen bathed in dappled light from the windows that overlook the cobbled laneway, hotel quality bathroom and all this with plenty of original stonework features and character. This place is charm personified!
Make sure you take a bottle of wine, actually make it two and some cheese and go to the top of the village and sit at the picnic table as the sun sets the view brought tears to my eyes and still does when I think about it.
This was my favourite village and accommodation in France and I can't wait to return. What was that French real estate website again? A man can dream can't he.

"I would go back tomorrow!!"
A beautiful charming Villa in a beautiful charming Village. Well equipped, modern, comfortable, clean and inviting. Also right in the heart of the Bastide, right near the main Piazza and eateries. I WILL go back and would recommend this to anyone without hesitation. Thank you very much for a memorable stay.

This house is less than a minute from all of the cafes in the main square of Monflanquin. It is nicely laid out and the bedrooms are cool in the summer as they are downstairs. We went with a toddler and the travel cot provided (which is longer than normal ones so suited our 2 year old well) and chair booster for the table were a real help. We moved the sofa in front of the stairs to make them baby safe. A lovely stay.

"A holiday hideaway in beautiful Aquitaine"
This lovely old two-bedroomed house is situated in the heart of the old hill town of Monflanquin. In a quiet alleyway, the house is away from traffic and only two minutes walk from the square at the top of the town with shops, cafes boulangerie etc. all to hand . The property is fully equipped with cooker, dishwasher, fridge, washing machine and microwave. There is a shower (plenty of hot water) and separate W.C. The first floor sitting room/ kitchen is large and airy with comfortable seating. We loved the old town and it's architecture and the feeling of tranquillity away from the bustle of life - although it was fun to experience the lively weekly market in the square. There are plenty of good restaurants in the surrounding area and the Dordogne river with its lovely old towns & villages is within easy reach by car. This is a place where you can relax!

"Live the French countryside Dream"
Monflanquin is a gorgeous little Village. I travelled to the village in off peak time and as a solo traveller the locals warmly welcomed me. The house was very quaint on a quiet little pedestrian lane way. Everything was provided and very clear instructions provided on how to get around, where to go and what to do. Communication with the owners was speedy and clear every step of the way. The house was clean and tidy and easy access to the rest of the village. I can't wait to get back to Monflanquin to spend more time in this beautiful village and excellent accommodation.
