The Aquitaine region
Lot et Garonne and the southern Dordogne region are areas that are blessed by an abundant amount of sunshine and beautiful rolling hills. As a result, one is surrounded by fields of sunflowers and numerous vineyards. This area known as the "Tuscany of France" is also steeped in history. Prehistoric man roamed through here centuries ago, and more recently, the area was fought over by the French and the English. As a result, one can find a castle or chateau almost around every bend. The area also offers wonderful opportunites for canoeing, cycling, walking or simply driving the curves and seeing the sites.
Monflanquin is famous for its Medieval festival which occurs every August and draws thousands of visitors in the village and surrounding area. However, the village always has something special taking place from Thursday evening markets in which locate farmers bring in and cook their wares for hundreds of hungry locals and tourists alike, to antiques fairs, art shows, flower festivals and various concerts.

"Perfect location to explore the French countryside!"
I've always enjoyed visiting and exploring France and the choice of "Entouré de tournesols" for my latest excursion was the perfect base for Southern France. The home is ideally located to explore the nearby countryside with many lazy days doing exactly that. The home itself is stunning, with all the comforts of home and wonderfully decorated. Monflanquin lives up to its reputation of being " one of the most beautiful villages in France." The home is just a few short steps from the main square and centrally situated to sample the great food and wine that the village has to offer. It was the perfect destination for a romantic getaway!
