A Rural Retreat

Light and airy interior, fully equipped recently renovated gite for 4 people, ideal for holiday our house hunting base. Panoramic views of the countryside, with open fields around and stunning views of Monflanquin. It is set on 5 acres of land with plenty of room to relax and enjoy the peace and tranquillity..
Guests have use of the large swimming pool with Roman steps.

We have a covered terrace with table and chairs perfect for get togethers with outside Fridge to keep your drinks cold. We have an outside cooker under the terrace along with a well equiped quality bbq.

We have added table tennis and professional badminiton and rackets this year just for those who want to keep fit.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne region

The Lot valley, south of the Dordogne is a beautiful, unspoilt, temperate and largely undiscovered area of self West France nestling between the Lot and the Garonne rivers. The open countryside of gentle hills and valleys provides plages Lougratte 5kms away and outdoor pools in Monflanquin 3 kms and Pujols 7kms. There are many vineyards nearby, including the famous St Emilion and Bergerac regions. The glamourous city of Bordeaux is 90 mins away. Bergerac airport is only 40 kms away, and has regular flights from the UK, including regional airports such as Southampton, Bristol, Exeter, East Midlands and Birmingham. Only 3km from Monflanquin and 8kms to Cancon both with shops, banks and restaurants. The . A real sense of freedom far away from the hustle and bustle of normal life, and all within driving distance of the popular Dordogne region. With forests, vineyards, and famland set amongst the many charming hill top bastide towns such as Monflanquin, Villereal, and Monpazier. The area is steeped with history, being part of the battlefield for the 100 years war,

The Monflanquin / Cante Perdit area

There are superb châteauxs within easy reach at Bonaguil (10k) and Monbazillac (near Bergerac). Museum of wine in Bergerac, and many excellent vineyards. River trips in summer down the Lot in Fumel. "Bastide" towns like Monflanquin, Pujols, Monpazier, Domme offer wonderful local markets, especially at Libos (1.5k) and Villeneuve sur Lot. For children the, theme Parc Walibi at Agen, Z'Animoland near Villeneuve, Naturoparc at Penne, or the lovely "Magic Cauldron" farm where you can feed the baby animals. There is parc En Ciel which is great for children and the more energetic 5 km a great day out.

Many farms offer tours and sell from farm shops. There are excellent, and still very reasonable, local restaurants, and we will leave a folder with recommendations for you to try. There are lots of festivals, especially of wine/chestnuts/plums - anything really! - through the summer and particularly in autumn. The best is the famous Mediaeval festival at Monflanquin in mid-August.

The "night markets", held in most sizeable places in July/August, are a special feature. You turn up, wander round the stalls buying your supper - anything from duck kebabs to bowls of moules & frites - and wine, and sit at long tables in the square - a good chance to meet French and English people, and to try the local produce.
