Gite | 4 bedrooms | sleeps 10
Le Claouset is a former fortified farmhouse dating from the eighteenth century, situated in a rural hamlet in the Tarn overlooking the Cerou valley. It is 4 kilometres from Monesties, which is one of ‘les plus beaux villages de France’, and 12 kilometres from the picturesque medieval bastide town of Cordes sur Ciel. A 30 minute drive will take you to Albi, which contains a UNESCO World Heritage site and Toulouse, with all its fascinating history, is only 85 kilometres away.
Le Claouset provides spacious accommodation for up to 8 – 10 people, containing four bedrooms (two double and two twins) each of which has its own en suite bathroom. Sizeable living and kitchen/dining rooms create sufficient space for large family groups or groups of friends.
The gite has a large, airy living room of 48 square metres with a TV and DVD/Video player and a library of books, DVDs videos and board games to suit a variety of tastes. We also provide a radio and Bose iPod dock.
There are four bedrooms, 2 double and 2 twin, with all bedrooms benefitting from their own en suite bathroom. Each bathroom is equipped with a bath and shower over the bath. The two twin bedded rooms are located on the first floor and one of these can also be converted to a double on request.
The two double bedrooms are located on the top floor and are extremely spacious - one has a cathedral ceiling and contains an extra single bed and cot. The other double room contains a child’s bed in addition to the double bed.
All linen and towels, including swimming towels, are provided and are changed weekly. A high chair and stair-gate can also be provided if required.
The kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, 'fridge with freezer compartment and large electric oven (gas hobs) and microwave. It is fully equipped with crockery, cooking utensils, toaster and kettle. There is a large dining area with a table that seats up to 10 with ease. The kitchen opens onto the large courtyard garden where you will find a barbecue and garden furniture. To the other side of the kitchen the window faces the lane with the pigeonnier in the background.
The kitchen door opens onto a large, sunny courtyard which provides different seating areas separated by shrubs and flowers. You can choose whether to sit in the sun or under the shade provided by the fruit trees. There is a barbeque in the courtyard for al fresco cooking of your purchases from the local markets.
There is a 10 x 5 metre swimming pool in a separate enclosed garden outside the courtyard for the sole use of guests in the gite. It is alarmed and fully meets French safety standards. Sun loungers, pool toys and games are provided and there are external lights for evening dips.
On one side of the courtyard a covered barn provides a shady place for lunches or dinners; there is also a table tennis table and pool here. There is wi-fi internet access in the courtyard as well as the gite.
Pets are welcome by prior arrangement. We have three cats and four sheep in addition to some chickens; these live mainly in the field across from the gite.
There is plenty of off-road car parking.
