The Sicily region
Sicily, set in the middle of the Mediterranean sea, has always been a crossroad of civilizations, not only because of its strategic position but most of all for its mild climate. The so many diifferent civilizations that succeded in Sicily during the centuries, from the Phoenicians to the Greeks, from the Arabs to the Spaniards, all influenced Sicilian culture, making it unique and eclectic. Driving through Sicily, you will discover how rich and various its territory is, from the long, sandy beaches and breathless rocky cliffs, to the multicoloured countryside and the high mountains, snow-covered in winter time. Typical Mediterranen dishes, gourgeous landscape, rich culture, friendly and warm people, this is what you will find with a trip to Sicily.
Palermo, Sicily's main city, has a millenary history dating back to the Punic civilization. With a rich artistic and architectonic heritage, the city offers a huge variety of turist attractions. You can visit ancient buildings rich of history such as Palazzo dei Normanni, with its renowned Cappella Palatina, or the famous Teatro Massimo, the biggest in Europe, or the so many ancient churches. Its ancient city centre, with its Arabic maze of alleys, swarms with carachteristic small shops and fresh products markets, where you can find typical Sicilian products and artcrafts. At only 5 minutes by car you can find Mondello, the very famous sea side centre with its long, golden, sandy beach and equipped shores with sun ombrella and sun beds. Its centre is rich of restaurants, pizzerias and you can try the very tasty typical Sicilian ice-cream in one of the so many "Gelaterias". The city is bursting with life during the all day and offers a great number of events for all tastes, such as shows, exhibitions, live music.

Surpassed all our expectations. We stayed two months, both with family and with friends, everyone was extremely grateful for the care and help that the owners gave us. The house is perfect, full of nice surprises. The garden is huge and in perfect shape. Sicily was worth the two months and more.

"Fantastic villa and fantastic, helpful owners"
We had a fantastic stay at Villa Lucia in May. The villa itself is beautiful and the views are stunning. It is set in a quiet residential area and is less than 3 minutes from the beach and 10 minutes from the centre of Palermo. The owners are so helpful and friendly and are very discreet. We can't wait to go back as we loved the villa and Sicilly so much!

"Stunning, tranquil and a perfect escape!"
A spacious, luxurious villa with a beautiful interior decor. Although it is the entire downstairs section of a large villa, the beautiful villa-apartment is very private, with your own entrance afoot a small parade of steps, draped with plants, flowers and views only of your own garden which surrounds the entire villa. Although very palatial, with an abundance of space lined with marble and wooden flooring, it is also perfectly cosy, with touches of Arabic and traditional Sicilian furnishings. The characteristic tiled bathroom, containing a jacuzzi bathtub, was a perfect way to spend the only one not-so-warm evening which wasn't quite warm enough to sit outside on the stunning patio. Which leads me to say that the botanical garden, was in fact where we spent the majority of our time whilst away. Our plans of sight seeing where overtaken by our desire to bask in the sunshine in our paradise, surrounded by tropical plantation, flowers and enough outdoor garden furniture to shade away whilst sipping on cocktails under our gazebo, or firing up the BBQ to sample some of the local produce. Again, plans of sampling the local cuisine was often out-trumped by preferring to stay within our beautiful surroundings! Virginia is a wonderful, kind lady (property owner) who will help with absolutely anything and if you are car-less (like us) was kind enough to even pick us up fro the airport, take us shopping and even up to Mount Pilgrim! We will definitely return to this, possibly again this year and I would recommend it to anyone who requires a touch of luxury and a beautiful escapism from a very, busy life!

"everything we could have hoped for, and more"
We had seen one very positive review of Villa Lucia, describing all its features and saying how friendly the people are, and it all turned out to be true. The photographs show it too. We were there over Christmas, and discovered among other things that we were provided with a fine Christmas Tree. Lucia and her family were extremely welcoming, friendly, and discreet, as well as tremendously kind and helpful. An additional good point, not mentioned in the advertising material we have seen, is that there is a village with a fair range of shops just 10 or 15 minutes walk away.
