About the home

Villa Fern is a charming detached finca in its own gated grounds. Accommodation consists of two double bedrooms, the main bedroom with en-suite and twin beds which can be made up as double. The second bedroom has twin beds and an adjoining bathroom with shower. The living room has satellite TV, DVD player and a selection of DVDs, books and board games. There is access from the living room to the pool and surrounding terrace, and also to the 20m2 covered porch/dining area where there is a double sofa bed.

Just five minutes drive away is the village of Monda, which offers bars, restaurants, supermarkets, a chemist, an olive mill, a cheese factory and a castle.

Fitted wall-wall wardrobe (travel cot with linen in cupboard)
Fully tiled en-suite bathroom with bath/shower and ceiling fan.
Second bedroom has large fitted wardrobe (containing iron and ironing board) and adjoining bathroom with shower, bidet and ceiling fan.
The living room is provided with Satellite TV, DVD player and a selection of DVDs (including children's films), books and board games. Access to pool area through sliding doors from living room.
Fully equipped kitchen with gas cooker and ceiling fan.
The 20m2 covered porch has a dining area and a double sofa bed and ceiling fan. All the windows in the house have net panels to keep the mosquito, flies and wasps out in summer.

8m x 4m pool with Roman end.
3/4 of an acre of garden with fruit trees - olives, figs, plums, apples and pears. You are welcome to pick the fruit when in season.
Separate BBQ area with outdoor taps & sink.
Washing machine is also outside in covered unit and gas bottles for cooker and hot water also stored outside in unit.

Further details

Villa Fern is unfortunately not suitable for people with mobility difficulties. There is both a steep drive up to the house or steep steps up to the house via the pool area.

Please arrive after 4pm and depart by 11am in order to allow time for cleaning and preparing the house for the next guests.

Smoking is permitted outside but please take care when putting out cigarettes as it gets very dry here in the summer.

All linen and towels are provided and also towels for use by the pool.

English speaking agent will make his phone number available for any queries.

The owner's car is parked in the carport halfway up the drive. There is plenty of parking at the bottom of the property and one car can also be driven up the steep drive and sharp left into the gravelled area beside the pool.

The Andalucia / Malaga Province region

The Costa del Sol provides everything for the perfect holiday - its own micro-climate, beaches, golf courses, night-life and shopping centres, but also plenty of culture, Spanish traditions and interesting places to visit - all within driving distance from Monda.

Ronda has a famous gorge and arguably the oldest bullring in Spain, only an hour away.

Marbella - El Casco Antiguo (the old town) with the Orange Square in the centre is the main resort for shopping and nightlife along with Puerto Banus, famous for shops & nightlife set around the marina is only 20 mins away.

A little further afield, but worth the journey are Cordoba with its mosque (2hrs), Granada with the famous Alhambra Palace and Generalife Gardens (1h45m), Seville with cathedral and La Giralda (golden tower) (2h30m).

For walkers, climbers and picnics, there is El Chorro gorge and the lakes, a narrow gorge cut into the rock by the Guadalhorce river at the centre of an area of outstanding natural beauty with wooded ravines and unusual rock formations and an impressive network of lakes.

An hour away is the village of Antequera, a market town renowned for its speciality products of olive oil, "polvorones' (almond sweets), and 'molletes' (special bread rolls). Nearby are prehistoric dolmens and the flamingo breeding lake of Laguna Fuente de Piedra.

The Monda area

Monda is a typical Spanish pueblo white village situated in a nature reserve. There are several tapas bars, restaurants and village squares which host various festivities throughout the year. The feria is in August when all the women and children dress up in their flamenco dresses and dance in the square and in the evening a stage is set up and a band plays all night.

In March there is a Dia de la Sopa Mondena (Day of Monda Soup) where soup is prepared for the whole village.

If you are lucky enough to be here in September, the neighbouring village of Guaro has a candlelit festival called Luna Mora (Moroccan Moon) where for two weekends the whole village is lit by thousands of candles and there is an outside market selling Moroccan food and jewellery etc.

Monda has its own castle (now a hotel) dating back to the 10th century and also a 200 year old olive mill and a cheese factory producing goats cheese.

There is also a small market on Tuesday.

Monda has plenty of shops for your everyday needs - supermarkets, chemist, bakery, butcher and post office and lost of wonderful bars and restaurants.

From Malaga Airport take the A355 road to Coin and Monda. Just after Coin there is a BP petrol station on the left where you will be met by Kevin Charlton who will guide you to the villa.
