Cerro das Ondas is just outside of Moncarapacho it is 5 minutes drive to the coast and with excellent access to explore the whole Algarve. The only people you are likely to see is your Portuguese neighbour riding her donkey up the lane. Very well equipped, it is ideal for couples, families and extended families and friends alike.
The main house has 2 bedrooms and family bathroom. Is fully air-conditioned throughout with a spacious, comfortable lounge, with dining table for up to 10 people. The kitchen and Breakfast room continues the Farmhouse feel, with all appliances you should need- Double doors lead out onto a break fast terrace with views over the countryside, carob and olive trees. Accessed from inside the house you can climb up to the roof terrace, which enjoys fabulous sunrises and picture perfect sunsets, reflecting in the private pool below.
The cottage is also fully air-conditioned with 2 bedrooms. One having an en-suite shower room. There is a small kitchen area and fridge for early breakfast and late night snacks!
Both the main house and the cottage overlook the surrounding country-side and decorative swimming pool. Hours of fun and exploring, barbecues and late night talks.....

The Algarve / East Algarve region
The coastal towns of the eastern Algarve are ‘real’ towns, far more under-developed than those in the Central and Western area of the Algarve.
If you are after a more relaxed style of holiday, away from the hordes of tourists and water parks, then the Eastern Algarve may be the place for you.
Why is it so undeveloped? The reason for this is probably because the towns along the coast are not generally right on the sea. They are separated from the Atlantic by salt-pans, marshland and lagoons. These form part of the Ria Formosa Natural Reserve which stretches from just south of Faro along the coast to the town of Vila Nova de Cacela, a few kilometres west of the Rio Guadiana river on the Spanish border.
The headquarters of the Ria Formosa Natural Reserve at Quinta Marim is worth a visit.
The beaches you’ll find along the coast are to be found on long sandy islands and outcrops. Because of this, little development of hotels has been possible, and should therefore keep the area quieter than other areas in the Algarve.
The wetlands of the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve make this area of coastline, wild and interesting, in contrast to the red sandstone cliffs of the central Algarve and the rugged coastline in the west.
Further inland, the area is completely undeveloped. Small rustic villages nestle in the remote countryside. You’ll find the local inhabitants going about their daily business, the same today as they did many generations before.
The Moncarapacho area
Moncarapacho is a small country village in the eastern Algarve not far from Faro. It is set in beautiful countryside which is home to growers of oranges, lemons and figs, and the area is also a big producer of flowers. The village itself is situated 8km north-east of Olhao and about 10km east of Estoi.
Being in the less commercialised Eastern Algarve, the area is quite quiet. Being a rural village, Moncarapacho is certainly not overrun by holidaymakers, although it is becoming a more popular destination along with a few of its neighbouring villages. The real attraction of the village is its relaxed and friendly atmosphere and its unhurried pace of life. The village offers the basics, such as supermarkets, banks, a post office, restaurants and bars and also a weekly market. You can also find traditional crafts here such as leather work for horses and the manufacture of ceramics, a good ceramics shop being found on the outskirts of the village.
Located where it is, within a 20-minute drive of Faro airport and only 3km from the A22 motorway, Moncarapacho makes the rest of the Algarve easily accessible, if you have hired a car (which is definitely recommended.
