Accommodation nestled in three hectares of wooded hillside setting offering a magnificent panorama over the valleys and mountains towards Spain and the dramatic Portuguese Peneda Geres National Park. The gentle sound of the River Mouro at just 3 minutes stroll brings tranquility to the natural beauty of this Shangri~la.

The Costa Verde region
This northern most province is considered the Portuguese garden of Eden, and provides wonderful opportunities for walking and exploring the ancient churches, tracks, villages and Celtic settlements.
The Portuguese hospitality is second to none, and the summer months bring local fiestas and folklore, street dancing and singing, sardines 'A Brasa,' Serra cheese, pungent milho bread and lively 'vinho verde' wine. Simplicity of life amid beautiful surroundings. Local water sports and sandy beaches within 30 minutes drive.
Moncao area
Local to your accommodation and just 15 minutes walk through the pine there is a river beach ( Praia Fluvial ) & during summer there is a 'café / bar ' serving ice~cream, coffee, beer, light snacks etc., sometimes music in the evenings.
Here, many of the local children gather to compete with their diving skills, volley ball nets are adjacent to the beautiful weir , granite picnic table and bbq areas are set amidst the shady trees. The main town of Moncao is at 10 minutes drive. Monção is a Fortified Town thermal town offering a full spa service, indoor swimming pool, 4 Gymnasium workout stations, etc.
Four major supermarkets. There are an abundance of restaurants and shops full~filling most needs. Restaurants vary from Portuguese traditional local cuisine, Brazilian 'fare', Pizza, Chinese, etc. Locally there are restaurants / bars at most villages. …..And just over the river bridge is Galicia / Spain. Here you can enjoy ' Spanish Tapas ', local Galician dishes, and a wealth of shellfish.
The Portuguese Peneda Geres National park is on our doorstep at just 20 minutes drive. Crystal clear streams run in the valleys, stunning scenery, its unlikely that during your climb to the summit you will encounter more than a dozen vehicles as the area is still largely undiscovered. At the summit of Castro Loboreiro there are 3 restaurants ………An excellent area to partake of the local Sunday cuisine. Within the park there are picnic areas with bbq and running water.
And if you are "Party People" !...... throughout the area during the summer evenings there are an abundance of street fiestas with music & dancing . In your accommodation is a book of marked walks and relevant information to the local area.
How to get there
We are equidistant to Porto (Oporto) airport in Portugal, or Santiago de Compostella in Galicia (Spain) at 80 mins drive.
The drive from Porto airport is via the A3 motorway , it is a very straightforward and well signed road.
Flights are available from Dublin, Stansted, Liverpool, Birmingham, Bristol, Heathrow, to Porto (Portugal) and Stansted, Liverpool, Heathrow, to Santiago do Compostella (Spain).

A large covered balcony provides plenty of shade from the sun. Wisteria clambers over the adjacent granite paved terrace.
The lodge provides 1 double bedroom, 1 single bedroom with optional bunk over, integral lounge / diner / kitchenette, bathroom with shower, pantry.

Further details outdoors: Plenty of outdoor space within the 3 hectares of grounds. To the front of the lodge there is a huge granite picnic table with bbq under the aged oak tree.
Plenty of Parking Space. Walks through the woods to the Summer Bar beside the river, here there are drinks and snacks available.
