The Limassol District
Limassol is centrally positioned on the island of Cyprus, so you can visit whichever destination takes your liking. Limassol Town is famous for its cosmopolitan lifestyle with many cafes, bars and restaurants as well as the cultural attractions such as the Kolossi Castle; various museums; municipal gardens; and various archaeological sites.
West of Limassol takes you to Fassouri Water Park, the Roman theatre and the beach at Kurion. There is also easy access to the countryside northwards where you may find the Vuoni Donkey Sanctuary. Troodos and the mountains, Nicosia, Paphos and Larnaca all within one hour's drive.
Monagroulli / Amathus Area
Agios Georgious is just outside the historic district of Amathus and the main tourist area. Here you can find some of the best 5star hotels on the island a variety of restaurants, bars, clubs, souvenir shops and much more to see.
Governors Beach is about 5 -10 mins drive, where there are several sandy coves to explore, great restaurants serving traditional authentic Greek-Cypriot Cuisine. Here fresh fish is served and of course the local meze. This area is fairly quite even in peak season as it only known to the locals for its food and beaches.
Agios Geogious has a Monastery just five mins drive away which is open to the public for viewing and you can also purchase local produce. On the same road further down you will come to a little gold mind, a famous fish tavena that is used by the locals. It's a must as this taverna is literally situated on a rocky sea and you couldn't eat any closer to the water than this!!!! You could walk the famous footpath which starts at the beginning of the Amathus area right into the centre. But this is no ordinary path! It is a path the runs along the beach and sometimes overhangs the waters edge. The views are simply breath taking, but be prepared it's not a short walk!!!
Many of the hotels allow the public entry, and a nice one to try would be The St Raphael as they have a marina with yachts that leads to a fish restaurant that is accessed via a walkway by the sea. Also Elias Hotel has a horse riding club and outdoor pursuits that be used at a local fee. In the month of August is the Cyprus Wine festival which takes place in Limassol. Here you can sample many Cypriot wines for free, try Greek food and be entertained by the Greek traditional folk dances. This festival is one of the most popular also attracting many of the locals from all the towns and villages nearby.
