Timeless lake view living for families and friends!

The beautifully restored period villa (ID 467) retains many fine features and offers bright and well proportioned rooms with high ceilings and ornate finishes including lovely Murano glass chandeliers.

The lower ground floor features a very large, fully fitted kitchen ideal for private chef hire and for catering for large dinner parties. It is furnished with all the desired self-catering appliances also including a coffee machine, microwave, gas oven and hob, toaster, food blender, kettle, fridge and dishwasher.

A separate and bright lake view dining room with parquet flooring and featuring a charming working stone fire place, allows for a formal yet pleasant dining atmosphere with you and your guests and is ideally situated from the kitchen – it also enjoys access to the large lake view garden.

The lower ground floor of the villa also provides guest accommodation ideal for guests requiring easy access, with a large and welcoming twin bedroom with many pretty and useful features including two single beds, wardrobe, ornate lamp stand and a modern wash basin with vanity mirror and shower.

The ground floor of the Villa features a fine marble mosaic flagged hallway which leads to two reception rooms with the formal drawing room offering beautiful views of the mountains, lake and garden. The room is furnished to an elegant and comfortable finish with original marble mosaic flooring, high ceilings, antiques and comfortable leather sofas where guests can relax and unwind with their favourite DVD on the SAT flat screen TV. Guests can also enjoy use of a second lake view sitting room with modern sofas and featuring original parquet flooring, a working stone fireplace and a lake view balcony which can be accessed from the elegant French doors.

For entertainment, a wonderful office study and a lake view games room with a full size snooker table with original parquet flooring and wooden panelling, is situated on the ground floor and enjoys access through a pair of French doors to the sunny lake front terrace and garden.

A cloakroom WC is also situated to the ground floor.

From the hallway a grand stone stair case with ornate wrought iron hand rails leads to the upper floors which comprises on the first floor, a second master bedroom with double bed, a walk-in wardrobe, a modern en-suite bathroom with bathtub, SAT TV and access onto a lake view terrace.

A third bedroom ideal for couples with an elegant double bed and romantic lake views also features to the first floor as well as a fourth twin bedroom ideal for family or friends. Two further bathrooms with one featuring an overhead shower over the bath tub are also located on this floor.

The second floor of the villa features a fantastic lake view tower and additional sleeping accommodation to the loft with a low-ceiling bedroom and bathroom, which can be utilised by guests if needed.

The Villa also offers a washing machine and off street parking for guests’ convenience.

Outside, guests can enjoy a fabulous ‘alfresco’ dining experience with a pretty ornate dining area and BBQ which is situated on the sunny lake front terrace which wraps around the front of the villa. The pretty garden features a picturesque lawn, a sunny lakefront terrace with modernist sun loungers, a private boat mooring facility with steps leading down to the water and some beautiful vistas to enjoy with good wine and company.

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area region

The Italian Lakes are a little slice of paradise. Elegant ribbons of blue water stretch out ahead, folded into the sun-baked foothills, with a spectacular back drop of the snow-capped Alps.
Lake Como offers hidden treasures just waiting for the visitor to discover them: charming corners forgotten by time, lakeside villages where nothing seems to have changed for centuries.
It is steeped in history with an immense collection of churches, architectural masterpieces and works of art covering the centuries. The lake is situated in a basin surrounded by wooded mountains, and offers an extremely varied landscape, with its' shores featuring a succession of pastures, and woods as well as harsh and impressive rock formations.
All this alongside elegant, lakeside villas with sub-tropical gardens, which provide a haven of peace and tranquillity and chic resorts such as Varenna, Bellagio, Menaggio and Como itself.
Warming, in spriing and graced with natural beauty, the lakes are still a place to draw breath and wonder. Lake Como, oriented north-south, ringed by characterful old villages often wedged onto narrow beaches between rugged cliffs and water. Those classic lake images of flower strewn balconies, Baroque gardens and splendid waterside villas can be found here in abundance. Dotted around and between the lakes are some of Italy's finest art cities, such as Milan, Verona & Bergamo.

The most romantic and picturesque villages on the lake are Santa Maria Rezzonico, Varenna (15 min by ferry) & Bellagio (8 min by ferry), Lenno (visit Villa Balbianello, location for 007's Casino Royale as well as Villa Gaeta, right here in Menaggio) & Laglio (where George Clooney owns Villa Oleandra).

The Moltrasio area

Moltrasio is a very beautiful village with a lakefront centre with elegant villas and ancient passageways leading up the hillside to the slopes of Monte Bisbino above. The village enjoys a prominent past which still exists today with Villa Versace and being famous as the place where Winston Churchill spent the summer of 1945, after WWII.

There are many fine restaurants ideally situated within a 15 minutes drive away including Il Gatto Nero in Cernobbio, Crotte dei Platani in Brienno and La Piazetta in Argegno.

The cosmopolitan delights of Como city are also ideally situated just 20 minutes drive away, with train links to Milan and Malpensa Airport.

Moltrasio is a charming little village, well known for its waterfall , the water of which flows away under three Roman bridges. It has lake view restaurants where you can sample local and freshly prepared dishes and regional wine. There is a "lido" which is a little sandy beach ( but you do have to pay an entrance fee). some shops, a bank, post office and a Church.

The village weaves its way from the shore of the lake up to the slopes of Monte Bisbino. The grey coloured stone found here is well known throughout the area and was used by the Maestri Comacini for building. Many important finds were made during the construction of the lake road in 1910, some dating back to pre Roman times holding great historic importance. A plague struck the village in the sixteenth century and the population was totally decimated.

During your stay it is well worth visiting Villa Passalacqua (Palace of Moltrasio). It has many historical features and some of the cellars and walls were part of the Monastery of the Humiliated. The small Roman church of St. Agata stands next to the villa.

Making a Booking:

To make a confirmed booking, you will be asked to fill in our online booking form and pay a 30% deposit by wire transfer or credit card. The remaining holiday balance will then be due 6 weeks before arrival.
