About the home

A charming, sunny house on two floors, recently renovated and comfortably furnished – it is a perfect location for a relaxing holiday.
There are splendid lake views from the lounge/open kitchen and bedroom. The terrace is a great place to sit back, relax and enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the lake. There is a bathroom on the top floor and a smaller one on the ground floor. The private garden is quiet and very sunny.
Characteristic restaurant with excellent local dishes at a good price and mini-market at 100mt, chemist 200mt.

The main floor (20 sq m) consists of a lounge with lake-view and is furnished with a comfortable double sofa-bed, TV and DVD. There is a open modern kitchen with oven, fridge and freezer.

The double bedroom is situated on the first floor and has ample wardrobe space. The room boasts a magnificent lake-view where you can see the first sun rise in the morning and at night be enchanted by the twinkle of the lights from the other side of the lake. There is a separate bathroom with shower. A cot-bed can be provided on request.

On the ground floor, which has access from the steps that lead down from the terrace, is another, more rustic, bedroom with two single beds. This is an ideal sleeping alternative during the summer for older children. There is also a toilet and wash-room with washing machine.

Dine ‘al fresco’ style on the terrace and enjoy the tranquil lake-view.
The private garden has it's own built-in BBQ as well as table, chairs and garden umbrella.
Free communal parking 100mt from house.

Arrival time is requested between 16.00 - 17.00 and on your departure day you are kindly asked to vacate the house by 11 am.
If this is not possible alternative times must be confirmed on booking with the owners.

Pets not allowed.
Strictly no smoking except on the balcony.
Not suitable for people with a walking problem (as there is a flight of steps leading to the house).

Booking: 100euro non refundable deposit for confirmation, balance to be paid in cash on arrival.
Damage deposit of 100euro refunded on departure.
The prices are inclusive of bath and bed linen, water, electricity, gas.
Final cleaning 40 euro.

Short stays allowed from 5 days, discount depending on length of stay.

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area region

Lake Como is the most romantic and scenic lake to the south of the Alps. The lake is very popular not only for it's beauty and temperate climate but also for it's relaxed approach to life. For this reason many celebrities, including film stars (George Clooney) and designers, have fallen in love with the area and have villas here where they can escape to.

Moltrasio is situated within the first basin of Lake Como making it only 50 minutes drive from Malpensa airport and an ideal base for many day trips:

- Take a boat trip and visit the picturesque villages of Bellagio, Menaggio and Varenna with their villas, gardens and beautiful scenery;

- Enjoy the historical city of Como (10 mins) with it’s elegant boutiques and lake-front bars and restaurants. There is also an open street market 3 times a week and the most amazing indoor fresh fruit and vegetable market.

- Visit Milan (1 hr) with its designer shops, museums and historical monuments and walk on the roof of the Duomo (cathedral) to see it all from above.

- Go across the border to Switzerland (10mins) to get some great deals at the Fox Town designer outlet (30mins), visit nearby Lake Lugano and the chocolate factory is great for children.

There are many invigorating scenic mountain walks as well as easy-going strolls but if you just want to sit back and relax by the lake there are several lidos and shingle beaches nearby.
During the summer there are various open-air concerts in Como and Cernobbio as well as lake-side village festivals where it is possible to enjoy typical local food and traditions.

The Moltrasio area

Moltrasio is a characteristic and tranquil little village on the western shore of Lake Como. It has some very exclusive villas owned by wealthy industrialists and designers but at the same time has retained a quiet and friendly community.

The natural surroundings are splendid and there are various walks leading directly from the house that enjoy breath-taking lake views. The famous Italian composer, Vincenzo Bellini, was so inspired by the waterfall that cascades down the centre of the village, that he wrote an opera - 'La Sonnambola'.

The village has several shops including various mini-markets (fresh bread and pasta) and a salumeria (fresh local meats and traditional hams), a chemist, news agent and post office and quiet a few steps if you decide to walk!! There is a big supermarket and shopping mall in nearby Cernobbio (10min).

There are many excellent cafes, bars, restaurants and pizzerias both in Moltrasio and in nearby Cernobbio that cater for all tastes and budgets.

“A piece of Lake Como heaven!” What a discovery! The lakeside views from the house are stunning and it is hard to drag yourself away from watching the ever changing vista from the balcony! We recieved the warmest welcome from Rachel and a complimentary bottle of Prosecco was on ice for our arrival. The house was like a home from home - it was decorated to such a high standard and had everything that you could possibly need for a self catering stay. However, there are so many good local restaurants (the one in Moltrasio village square is a must!) and in Como that we chose to eat out most evenings. The house is perfectly situated to explore the Lake Como region by boat, car or fernacular rail!!! We would highly recommend this house for an absolute escape from it and we are already planning our next great escape!!
