Home description

A charming open plan house perched at the top of Mojacar village with breathtaking views. The house, situated beside the Castillo and overlooking the village square, has a quiet picturesque location which makes it an ideal base for that romantic 'get away from it all' holiday. Accommodation, a large bedroom with king size bed , spacious dining/living area, fully fitted kitchen and bathroom. In addition, there is a sunny terrace with patio furniture and BBQ. Discover this 'sugar cube' Andalusia village with it's narrow kasbah streets and courtyards overlooking Mojacar beach. For those without a car, the local bus service is a short walk from the house and services Mojacar's sandy beaches and surrounding mountain and fishing villages. There is a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops in Mojacar Village and your stay would not be complete without sampling the many beach bars 'Chirinigutos' serving delicious food and drinks.

The Costa de Almeria region

Almeria is situated in the south east corner of Andalucia and enjoys the best climate in Spain with over 300days of bright sunshine in the year. The area has been settlerd by many and varied peoples since time immemorial and there is evidence of Bronze age, Phoenician, Greek and Roman traders. The Moors of north Africa occupied the area until their expulsion in 1498 but they have left Mojacar with their legacy of narrow winding streets and moorish style houses. Winter holidays are perfect for hill walkers and hikers. Another great winter attraction is golf and Mojacar now boasts 4 good courses within 20minutes drive with 2 more projected. Granada and skiing in the Sierra Nevada is just 2hrs30mins away. In Summer the beach is the main attraction with all kinds of water sports, chiringuitos(beach bar restaurant) or just lazing on the strand.

Mojacar / Mojacar Village area

Mojácar is an engaging and romantic undiscovered corner of Spain, perched high on a hill with white washed houses and cobbled streets, which overlooks the sea and gorgeous long sandy beaches. A focal point for artists and writers throughout the ages, Mojácar with its Moorish appearance and commanding views will fascinate, beguile and completely captivate you. There are more than 5kms of beach front (many having been awarded the EEC blue flag for cleanliness), notably there are 12km of virgin beaches and coves, which reach to the borders of the Cabo de Gata natural park. The famous "spagetti westerns" of the 60s were made in the nearby desert of Tabernas and a great day out can be had visiting the old film sets and reenacting some of the action, greatly enjoyed by all children young and old. Another big attraction in Summer is the Water Park in Vera, bus service available from Mojacar or 15 minutes in a car.Mojácar is undoubtedly the most cosmopolitan place in the whole region. There are wonderful outdoor markets in Mojácar and the adjacent villages such as Garrucha, Turre and Vera, where you can treat yourself to a mouth-watering selection of fresh fruit, vegetables and fish. There are also endless varieties of restaurants both Spanish and other nationalities, from a simple tapas bar to haute cuisine restaurants. Fiestas are big in this part of Spain and Mojacar is no exception. The main celebrations being Carnival in Feb, Easter, Moors and Christians in june which is a non stope 3 day fiesta with ancient battles reenacted on sea and shore and culminating in a spctacular Parade led by the Moorish King on the last day. The last week in August has the 5 day village fiesta. These are just the important ones!

How to get there

-The nearest airport is Almeria which is only 50 minutes away.
-Alicante Airport(2 hrs) and Murcia Airport(1.5hrs) are also very convenient for this area.
-There are frequent fights to and from Britain, Ireland and other european countries . See Easyjet,
Ryanair, Monarch, Air Berlin, Air nostrum, Iberia
-Taxis for 4 people from Almeria usually cost 80euros, but the ideal is to rent a car.

The entrance is into a secluded Patio with breath taking views over the surrounding countyside and the perfect spot to savour a relaxing drink whilst enjoying the fabulous sunsets.The open plan design of the house adds to the spacious, bright and airy feel. The bedroom has a king size bed . Because of the nature of the narrow village streets parking is not always avilable beside the house but the free public carpark is a five minute walk away.

This is an ideal spot from which to explore and enjoy the historic and enchanting village of Mojacar. The house is at the highest point beside the Mirador del Castillo and the Art Gallery and overlooking the heart of the village which is the village square. The narrow winding village streets have many and varied shops, bars and restaurants and the Mediterranean Sea is just 1km distant.

Further details

Booking is confirmed by a 25% deposit and the balance is paid when collecting the keys. The property may be entered after 2pm on the day of arrival and vacated by 11am on the day of departure.. Change over days are flexible.
