The Costa de Almeria region
Mojacar has two main areas, the Playa (beach) and the Pueblo (Old Town).
Set in the lower reaches of the Sierra Cabrera mountains, the Old Town, steeped in Moorish history, is a spectacular sight, with cube-like white houses and a maze of cobbled streets packed with shops, bars and restaurants. The Plaza Nuevo is the main square from where there is the most spectacular view and beyond that is the 14th century church of Santa Maria. At night the whole place is lit up like Fairyland.
Mojacar Playa is 9km of sandy beaches, beach bars and play areas. Just pull off the beach road, park and jump into the sea! No parking meters and easy parking at the shops.
Frequent bus service along the Playa and up to the Pueblo. Taxis available too.
Mojacar / Mojacar Playa area
There is a new shopping centre 0.5 km away and various smaller shopping areas along the beach road. The main shopping centre in Mojacar is the attractive Parque Commercial, 2.5 kms away and situated at the junction of the coast road and the road leading up the hill to the Old Town. This is where everyone meets! Here there are cafes, restaurants, a wide range of shops and an underground supermarket. There are also medical and dental facilities and a bank.
There are weekly Markets in Mojacar and the surrounding towns and villages and many Fiestas.
Garrucha fishing village with a yacht harbour, port and fish market is just up the road. It has many excellent fish restaurants. Garrucha prawns are renowned throughout Spain for their quality and taste.
The Cabo de Gato protected Nature Reserve is 30 minutes drive away to the south. Take a picnic lunch and a leisurely drive and enjoy the wonderful scenery, the tranquillity, the bird and wildlife.
Many interesting towns and villages around are well worth a visit.

Further details indoors: Although the apartment is on the top floor, because the development is built on a hillside, the top floor is actually level with the road leading to it at the back, so there is easy access from your car into the apartment. You don't need to use stairs or lifts.
Across the internal corridor there is a spacious storage room where the barbecue, umbrellas, ironing-board, iron etc are kept. It is also ideal for storing golf clubs, water skiis, suitcases etc.
