About the home
In 2013 we have very limited availability left ( 3 weeks in May due to late cancellation, a week iin Sept and mid oct) but have alternatives -( try 24811 or 7804 , both equally good & close by.) The modern air conditioned apartment is in an enviable and quiet location overlooking the Med and with the mountains behind -just 300m down a short hill to the blue flag beaches, cafes, shops and pleasant promenade. The property has one air conditioned double bedroom and one air cooled twin bedroom, 2 bathrooms with good powerful showers & wc's, and heated towel rail, well equipped and recently tastefully renovated kitchen (everything apart from dishwasher) , breakfast bar and comfortable lounge with satellite TV , DVD and air conditioning which is enhanced by ceiling fans in all rooms. Recently re-decorated air conditioned lounge and new marble effect kitchen worktops. There is an option of wifi and there is an I pod dock. The very large main SE facing balcony affords spectacular views of the Med and sunrises.The main bedroom has a fitted mosquito sliding door so patio door can be left open at night if required.It has a new air con unit. The bedroom also has a flatscreen TV with all freeview channels. There is a retractable awning and 3 vertical blinds with large windows providing both shade and windbreaks & the balcony can be an extra room in the evenings. There is also a 2nd smaller shaded balcony. There are five sunbeds, patio furniture, a BBQ and many beach/pool 'toys' are kept in a lockable shed. 4 is the ideal occupancy but the double bed settee in the lounge allows max occupancy of 6. The nearby 13 x 7m pool is gated, secure and is very quiet. The external walls of apartment also re-rendered and re-painted in Dec 11. The location on the first floor makes it somewhat unsuitable for the very elderly, infirm or disabled.
The attractions of the relatively quiet, pleasant low rise, family resort of Mojacar Playa are very accessible. The sea front has an attractive promenade and series of well maintained blue flag, sandy beaches. There are a range of quality restaurants, lively cafes and mostly small shops and well stocked supermarkets. There are some small night clubs and discos (not too near though!) but the resort is primarily a relaxing family resort with a lack of neon lights, slot machines and lager louts. There are many attractions within easy reach - aquapark, quality golf courses, 10 pin bowling, mini golf, water sports on the beach,go-karting, quad biking and many interesting cultural and scenic excursions. There is heating in the form of the A/C units and electric heaters for the rare chilly winter evenings. The attractive bedrooms have built in wardrobes, bedside cabinets and patio doors leading to balconies - you even have a sea view from your bed!!! main bedroom has mosquito shutter and air conditioning and the twin bedroom is cooled by a large fan and an air cooling unit. There are a range of toys, games, cards, DVDs and CDs. A cot and high chair are available. LATE DISCOUNT DEALS AVAILABLE - very good longer rental prices for December to March. Book early as it does get booked up! There are 2 balconies - the main one is very large with spectacular views and is a major attraction of the apartment for our guests. It has 4 retractable awnings to provide shade and shelter over the balcony. There is a range of balcony furniture including loungers, relaxers and marble table and chairs as well as a good sized BBQ. The 13mx7m pool is only 50 m from the apartment and has nice grass areas and sunbeds for relaxation. It is usually very quiet at the pool, which has both sea and mountain views. The pool area has a fence around it and a sprung, lockable gate so is only available to owners and guests in the small complex and is secure for youngsters.The pool has an adjacent toilet.
The apartment is on the first floor, so there are some steps (about 16 to 18) to the pool and car park and down to the road so it is unsuitable for very elderly, infirm or disabled.
Long term lets only considered in winter.Late heavily discounted deals occasionally available especially out of season, when the weather can still be superb. Winters can be warm and sunny and it is a ''desert''climate so minimal rain usually
Deposit of £100 (£150 for 2 week+ bookings) to secure booking - balance payable one month before arrival date - cancellation within 2 months of arrival date would result in loss of deposit + 25%of balance due. Smoking only permitted on balconies. No young all male groups and all under 18 groups must have a responsible adult with them in the apartment. No security bond but all guests are asked to replace broken items.
The Costa de Almeria region
The Almanzora region is known as the 'hidden jewel of Spain' and is relatively unspoiled (except for a small area 8k north of Mojacar Playa) with an absence of high rise buildings. It enjoys reputedly the warmest, sunniest driest weather in Spain (technically a desert) and it is superb for winter, spring and autumn breaks as well as the hot summer period.Winter (Nov - Feb) temps can be 18-24C in the day and sunshine is fairly constant. There is the nearby old Moorish town of Mojacar and there are many archaeological sites and ancient limestone caves in the area. The Cabo de Gata national park coastal area just to the south is spectacular with secluded coves and volcanic and karst scenery. Inland in the nearby mountains are lovely old Spanish towns and villages and there is Mini Hollywood- the location for spaghetti westerns (Fistful of Dollars etc)and Lawrence of Arabia- and a good zoo. Granada (& Alhambra Palace) and the ski area of Sol y Nieve is 2 hrs 20 mins away by motorway and Cartagena, Aguilas and Almeria are also worthwhile, attractive and historic towns to visit, all within an hour or so of Mojacar.
The Mojacar / Mojacar Playa area
Spectacular Moors & Christians fiesta second weekend in June in Mojacar Pueblo. Other fiestas at various times. Local atmospheric street markets at Garrucha,Villaricos Carboneras & Vera.(all within 25 mins). Aquapark and go-karting within 25 mins.Golf - top class courses at Desert springs, Aguilon (35 mins) & Valle del Este (25 mins) and good holiday courses at Marina (in Mojacar Playa), Macenas (6 mins) and Cortijo Grande all easily accessible. Villaricos (fishing port), Carboneras and Mojacar old town are close by & worth a visit . Tennis courts and 10 pin bowling nearby, scuba diving, banana boat rides (summer), horse riding and sea fishing and funfairs (summer)are all available. Plenty to do for kids. The range of restaurants is superb in Mojacar Playa with usual full range of international as well as Spanish and English cuisine at amazingly good prices.Most do a menu del dia (lunch and evenings) for 10-12euros for 3 courses with good choices.

Flights to Almeria (55 mins drive away) from most provincial and london airports with most budget airlines. Can also fly to Murcia (90 mins by toll motorway)or Alicante ( 2 hours drive using free Med motorway). Cheap car hire available -try www.doyouspain.com, www.drivespain.com, www.economycarhire.com or www.amigoautos.com. Taxis also available at airport - fairly cheap fares (60 euros e/w) from Almeria airport through private arrangement

This apartment is lovely, the views from the balcony are something else - to be able to see the see and so far into the distance was really lovely.
The apartment has everything you need in it,comfy beds, sofas, sky tv, beautiful balcony and lovely weather!
I appareciate what other people are saying about the hill, which yes is steep, but the details do advise you to have a car and also it says about there being lots of steps - so it was as I expected it to be :)
Driving down and parking at the bottom of the hill was great, you could then walk wherever you wanted and then hop back in the car to go back up!
This break was just what we needed it to be, we wanted somewhere to relax and unwind - lovely and quiet!

Great apartment at far end of mojacar playa ( not that easy in height of season but ok out of season for driving times along the front), The view form the large balcony was worth its weight in gold. Yes its a steep hill but to sit on the balcony and listen to the see at night was heaven. The apartment had everything you needed, though couldn't find oven gloves but probably didn't look hard enough. Felt very secure and a nice tidy complex. Only used the pool once but a fair few loungers available and a nice breeze up there. Nice sized rooms and good air con and fans. A bit difficult to find in the dark on the first night but once found it was a very accessible apartment. The owner Dave leaves lots of information and e-mailed responses whenever contacted for advice.All mod-cons and nicely furnished with nice bathrooms . plenty of hot water. Only turned tv on once for olympic opening ceremony shows what a good holiday we had. Thanks Dave.
