Then you can swim in the Med. or explore the national parks at Cabo de Gato or Cazorla and, in season, go skiing in the Sierra Nevada. Visit majestic Granada or beautiful Murcia. Always you will return to the beauty of this restored cortijo at El Molino with it's stunning views, private pool and secluded courtyards. Golf clubs free to use. The main bedroom and the principal living room have A/C with all bedrooms having ceiling fans.

Welcome pack on arrival. Property is managed by a local British couple. Golf clubs free to use. Professionally prepared meals can be delivered by arrangement. Wonderful safe uncrowded beach at Mojacar is 10kms away. All utilities, ie, electricity, gas etc are included in the rental price. Breadmaker available as is a cot for infants. The house has a good library of books and CDs and wi-fi internet access is provided.

This quiet corner of Spain is the warmest, driest and sunniest part of Europe from October to April. In summertime it has beautiful sunny days and warm evenings, ideal for BBQ and the outdoor lifestyle. It enjoys over 325 days of sunshine a year with balmy temperaturs almost all year. Cortijo Grande is a green oasis with golf, horse-riding and chilling out while 10 km away are the wonderful beaches at Mojacar. The stunning national park of Cabo De Gato is less than 30 mins away. Great wildlife including beautiful songbirds and exotic migratory birds. You may even see wild pigs! There are beautiful local areas for walking and the countryside is stunning particularly in spring when wild flowers abound. The tinkle of goat bells is the loudest sound around and the scent of lavender, wild herbs including rosemary and thyme fill the air.
The Mojacar / Cortijo Grande area
The nearby moorish hill-top " white" village of Mojacar Peublo is a maze of narrow streets, small artisan shops and intimate cafes. Mojacar playa has beautiful clean and uncrowded beaches with easy parking and many cafes and restaurants. 5 golf courses lie within 25 mins drive of El Molino. The gorgeous national park of Cabo de Gato is less than 30 mins drive with secluded beaches, wonderful walking and amazing vistas. Volcanic rock formations, sand dunes and secluded coves characterise this 70,000 acre jewel. Tabernas , location for the filming of many Clint Eastwood " spaghetti westerns" and a centre of olive oil production is 30 mins away. Cave houses and Renaissance castles are in nearby Velez Blanco and Ubeda. Many exciting fiestas take place in the local villages and towns including Bedar, Sorbas and Lubrin. Each small town in the area has a weekly market which is well worth a visit.

Fly to Almeria with Ryanair, Easyjet, Monarch. Access from Birmingham,Dublin, Leeds, Luton, Gatwich, Manchester, 45mins to house by motorway on A7. Murcia airport is 1 1/2 hrs and Alicante 2 hrs both by motorway A7. El Molino is 2Km from exit 520. Car rental in Murcia or Alicante tends to be cheaper but check a wesite such as Argus carhire or just google spanish carhire.

If you like somewhere quiet, welcoming and totally private then El Molino is the villa for you. Unlike some other villas we have stayed this one has a lived in feel, comfortably furnished with everything you need to complete your stay. The owner is very accommodating and friendly as are the two guys who look after the place, making sure that your stay is okay and providing useful local knowledge and recommendations It's setting is far enough away to be completely private, yet close enough to the local town of Turre for all your provisions and only 20-30 minutes away from the nearest beaches. There are two bars and eateries within walking distance and plenty of choice just a short drive away. The views are stunning as are the sunsets as witnessed from the roof terrace where one can relax with a refreshing drink and watch the day slide away behind distant mountains. We went in May and the weather was perfect but you need have no fear of the greater heat of June onwards as the rooms are air-conditioned and the pool is under shady trees. The bar/restaurant is a short stagger down the hill and the nearest shops a short drive down the road. We have been twice to El Molino and will certainly go again as we find what we are looking for in any holiday - comfort, quiet and space to relax. If you also want entertainment then the town of Mojacar is close to hand and Ronda and Granada are within a day's drive. Take the minimum of casual clothing, something good to read and a few of your favourite DVDs and you'll come home refreshed and recharged. |
