About the home

This brand new 2 bedroomed Penthouse apartment is in a prime position on Mojacar Playa. Just 4 minutes walk to the beach, bars and restaurants. There are stunning views of the sea & mountains from both the lower terrace and the large private solarium, which overlooks the swimming pool.

The apartment is equipped to a very high standard with air con , ceiling fans, tv and dvd . The kitchen has a dishwasher, washing machine and microwave. There is a basement parking space and lift to the apartment. There are 4 golf courses within 15 minutes drive, and horse riding and diving schools nearby. The apartment is available to rent from May to January.

The owners are non smokers and would ask all guests if they could please refrain from smoking inside the apartment but confine their smoking to the outside terrace. This would be much appreciated.

The Costa de Almeria region

The Costa de Almeria is the warmest and sunniest region in the whole of Europe with over 320 days of sunshine a year. The area includes the Cabo de Gata National Park with its spectacular mountainous coastline, secluded beaches and fascinating bird life on its coastal lagoon. Less than an hour away is the only desert in Europe, location for the well known spaghetti westerns made famous by Clint Eastwood. The film sets are now major visitor attractions in the area.

50 minutes drive, north along the coast from Almeria is Mojacar, an ancient Moorish pueblo(village) perched on the foothills of the Sierra Cabrera Mountains, overlooking the Mediterranean coastline and called " The corner of enchantment" .

Mojacar Pueblo is visible from many miles away, with distinctive whitewashed cube shaped houses stacked one upon the another separated by twisting cobbled streets, winding steps and old arches, providing a surprise around every corner, with its various restaurants, bars and gifts and craft shops. The village has still retained much of its original character and has a colourful history back before the Moors were evicted from Spain in the 15th century. To this day the local people re-enact the Moors and Christians battles, in full costume, every June when there are fiestas and festivals held commemorating Mojacars ancient past.

Mojacar Playa boasts 6 miles of uncluttered sandy beaches, dotted with beach bars, shops, restaurants, mini golf and children's play areas. Set back from the beach front are residential properties and a few hotels, but strict laws have managed to protect the coast against becoming a high rise concrete jungle like some of the other costas.

The Mojacar / Mojacar Playa area

Situated in the area of Almeria, Mojacar offers more than 17 kilometers of unspoilt beaches. The romantic old village is perched high on a hill of whitewashed houses, cool courtyards and narrow cobbled streets. It overlooks Mojacar playa and the blue mediterranean.

Throughout the ages it has been a focal point for artists and writers, and set against a backdrop of the Sierra Cabrera mountain range, the village retains much of its original charm and authentic atmosphere. Whether sailing ,fishing, bowling, tennis, golf or watersports takes your fancy or simply relaxing on an uncrowded beach you will find it all and more in and around Mojacar.

GOLF: There are 4 golf courses within 15 minutes drive. Marina golf course is situated between Mojacar Playa and Garrucha and is the closest at approx 5 minutes drive. Cortijo Grande golf course is situated approx 2 miles inland of the town of Turre . This course has fantastic scenery as it is set below the cabrerra mountains, but the course is more for fun golfers than those more serious. For the more serious the valle de este course near Vera would be more suitable and also the desert springs golf course near Cueves de Almanzora.

Budget airlines such as Easyjet, and Ryanair are received into Almeria airport which is approx 50 km from Mojacar.

Also into Murcia airport which is approx 1 1/4 hours drive and then Alicante airport which is approx 2 hours drive.

By road from Alicante airport going south on the A7 E15 motorway and then exit 525 you will easily find us, and also from Almeria airport again the same A7 E15 motorway going north and then exit 520 you will easily find us.

By road from Murcia airport the new toll road from Cartegena to Vera and then joining the A7 E15 motorway and exiting at 525 you will easily find us.

“Home from home, can't wait to go back!” First time we had been to Mojacar, but won't be the last, it boasts a fantastic beach which seems to go on & on. Reasonably priced restaurants with such a wide choice. The apartment is situated up a hill from the main road, it is very quiet once in the luxurious accommadation, the small complex it is in, has its own lovely swimming pool, which you have a key supplied, in order to gain access, this keeps it quite select with no over crowding. At the side of the pool are well maintained gardens/lawn area. There is a lift in the complex to all floors. The apartment has a fantastic solarium, with tables, chairs, loungers, please keep Ken's plants watered though, as they provide that little touch of beauty. once inside the apartment, you'll find everything you will need, TV, DVD player, tastefully decorated, lovely furnishings and very well equiped, you won't be dissappointed. Any problems whilst you are there are swiftly dealt with, by a man called Andy (next door), you'll find him very helpful, especially for advice on the best restaurants or places to visit etc. Looking forward to going back!!
