The Costa de Almeria region
The Costa d'Almeria is home to a variety of Spanish settlements. The coast tends to be unspoiled and scarcely populated. The Cabo de Gata - Nijar natural park is situated within the Costa d'Almeria. This is characteristically a desert climate with minimal rainfall and population. Popular coastal villages to visit include Mojacar and San Jose.

Mojacar, on the Costa d’Almeria, is a captivating Spanish town, located between the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains of the Sierra Cabrera. It comprises both the old world charm of the ‘Old Town’, a maze of cobbled streets and traditional buildings built into the hillside, and the newer face of the sea front, which is lined with a variety of international bars and restaurants. Mojacar boasts several kilometers of unspoiled, un-crowded, sandy beaches with opportunities for fishing, water sports, or just relaxing!
By day or night, Mojacar enjoys a friendly, local atmosphere; the bars are open late but generally without the rowdiness that can taint more prominent holiday destinations.

How to get there
The easiest way of reaching Mojacar is a flight / rental car combination.
The nearest airport is Almeria (approx 1 hour 15 minutes drive), although cheaper deals can sometimes be had at Alicante or Murcia airports (2-3 hours drive).
The airports all have several rental car companies, and www.travelsupermarket.com is a useful site for comparing different flight and rental options from different companies.
From any airport, the drive will be mostly motor way, and full directions can be given upon booking.
