The Costa de Almeria region
The Almería climate is almost desert like leading to some dry, barren landscape in places, but with the compensation that you are virtually guaranteed wall to wall sunshine!
Driving through the province you can see, even just out of the car window, a whole range of different coloured rock formations, tumbled down silver mining works and dramatic mountain and coastal scenery. The Almería coastline is made up of miles and miles of beaches - plus sheltered coves where you can soak up the sun and swim in private.
Mojácar beach area is an ideal destination for those looking for somewhere not too commercialized but with all mod cons. Whilst the Moorish hilltop village of Mojácar retains its old world charm with narrow cobbled streets. Not to be missed is a visit to the mirador where you have a panoramic view for miles around, or a visit to the old "fuente" where earlier inhabitants of Mojácar village went to collect the natural spring water as it used to gush out - and still does today. Take a bottle with you and fill it up with the freshest spring water. It then goes on to fill up the troughs where the original "Mojacaros" used to go to do their washing.
Nearby sporting activities include scuba diving, snorkelling, golf, mini golf, and many more. A visit to the local water park can be enjoyed by both those choosing to hire and car and those not, as the local bus service goes there making it a fun day out for both adults and children.
Take a trip back to the Wild, Wild, West by visiting the location where many of the Westerns have been filmed - and take part too!
