The Costa de Almeria region
The climate in Costa de Almeria is Mediterranean, warm and dry, with low rainfall. The temperature remains mild throughout the year. It does not fall below an average of 13ºC in winter, nor does it rise above an average 25º C in summer. Thanks to this mild climate, visitors can enjoy all the possibilities offered by the province at any time of year. There are modern tourist resorts interspersed in the natural roaming landscape where mankind has barely left its mark.
There is no doubt that Costa de Almeria is home to some of Spains most beautiful, least crowded, untouched beaches. With a contrasting beauty of semi-arid landscapes, lofty palms, wild rugged shores and sandy coves, discover a side of Spain you didn't know.

Food & Drink Both Mojácar and Garrucha offer a selection of traditional and pizza restaurants. Tapas, Spanish snacks, are a common feature of most menus. Try the local seafood, and dishes such as Gambas al ajillo, mouth-watering garlic prawns. Bodegas, wine cellars, are a great place to relax and enjoy a tipple or two.
Nightlife A selection of lively evening bars line the beach in Mojácar. Nightlife is relatively low-key with plenty of open-air restaurants.
Shopping Open-air markets and varied shops can be found in most resorts. Local handicrafts, hand-painted ceramics and leather goods are sold in many boutiques, local markets and beach stalls.
Mojacar area
Mojacar Pueblo is a picturesque sight of white washed buildings and steep winding cobbled streets perched high on a hill in the Sierra Cabrera that over looks the Mediterranean Sea. The symbol of Mojacar is the 'Indalo Man' which is the shape of a man holding an arc between his outstretched arms. It is often painted on the front of houses and is said to bring good luck. The symbol is associated with paintings found in the caves of Velez Blanco and is thought to be 4,500 years old.
With its dual appeal Mojacar's got something for everyone. Families with kids will love the miles of sandy beaches and plentiful water sports. History buffs will wallow in the shaded splendour of the old town and party animals can head for the beach bars and clubs lining the coastal road.
Don't miss the fruit and vegetable market in the old town every Wednesday and make the most of the many tapas bars and top quality restaurants on offer. A few minutes down the coast is the fishing village of Garrucha with its superb seafood gastrodome and Vera with fun-for-all-the-family water parks.
There are plenty of golf courses in the local area. Watersports, quod biking and horse riding are also available.
