BookThe Costa de Almeria region
The Costa de Almeria is the warmest and sunniest region in the whole of Europe, boasting over 320 days of sunshine a year. The area boasts beautiful scenery, from mountains to desert, with long beaches of fine golden sand. There are also virgin natural spaces with bays at the feet of towering cliffs at the edges of fine natural landscapes.
The climate of Almeria is sub-tropical or Mediterranean, warm and dry. Its more remarkable characteristic is its cloudless sky and luminous sunshine.
The Mojacar / Mojacar Playa area
Eastern Almería is often described as undiscovered Spain. The area is renowned for its fantastic climate boasting over 320 sunny days a year.
Mojácar boasts more than 17 kilometres of unspoilt beaches. The sandy beach in Mojácar itself stretches for many miles. There is a pretty promenade to stroll along before relaxing in one of the bars to gaze out to sea whilst enjoying a cool drink. You have a wide range of places to eat from the simple to the exotic. In addition there are children's play areas on the beachfront to keep them entertained. During the summer you can find funfairs and small market stalls.
Drive along the coast away from the town and you will find many private little coves and rocky enclaves. Mojácar offers incredible experiences for those who like an adventure. Take a microlight flight, go scuba diving, horseback riding or go off road quad biking. Within 30 minutes of the Resort you will also find Mini Hollywood where many Spagetti westerns were filmed in Europe's only desert, and where you will also find a fascinating zoo. Whether it is sailing, fishing, bowling, tennis, golf or water sports that take your fancy or simply relaxing on an uncrowded beach soaking up the sun, you will find it all and more in and around Mojácar.
The Moorish romantic old town of Mojácar Pueblo, perched high on a hill with narrow Kasbah streets and courtyards overlooks Mojácar playa and the blue Mediterranean. It's a real retreat for artists who take full advantage of the views. It also has some great little shops and restaurants.
Further up the coast is the town of Garrucha which is about a ten minute drive. Here you will be able to find numerous shops ranging from clothes to shoes and computers to ornaments. On a Friday there is a local market where lots of bargains can be found. The town is still a working fish port and you will be able to buy fresh fish straight from the boats to cook for your dinner later in the evening. If however you prefer someone else to do all the hard work then reserve a table at one of the many fish restaurants that specialise in locally caught fresh fish.
