Apartment | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
Casa Sonrisa is a spacious 2 bedroom apartment that is located right in front of the lovely Marina Golf Course and is about a 3 min walk away from the beach. Located where all the top hotels in Mojácar are, you can enjoy a drink and meet some new people in one of their bars. There is also an internet cafe located on the same street along with two small supermarket for basic needs. You can catch a bus, which is also walkable within minutes, to all the 'chiringuitos' or Spanish beach bars.
The bus also goes up to the picturesque Mojácar Pueblo or village which is located on a hill and there are gorgeous lookouts on to the turquoise Mediterranean Sea. The village is only a 15 min bus ride away and buses run frequently every half an hour.
There is a lot to explore in this area. There is another little town about 2 kms away called Garrucha which has go-karting and a water park for the kids (and adults) which is in Vera about 20 kms away and also accessible by bus. There is a tourist information office on the beach which has all the timetables and lots of other suggestions to make your trip memorable!

The kitchen is fairly large with a brand new dishwasher (no one wants to do the dishes on holiday!) and electric stove top. Supplied are all the necessary cooking utensils needed during your stay. Right outside the main entrance of the house is a gated patio that looks out onto the pool and there is lots of space to drag out a deckchair or two to soak up some sun!

The Andalucia region
Costa de Almeria has a warm sunny climate with areas of natural beauty. This beautiful and largely unspoilt region features more than 200 miles of dramatic coastline. The weather is superb, as Almeria boasts one of the driest and sunniest climates in Europe with around 320 days of sunshine.
There are first-class water sports facilities and it's also a golfer's paradise, with several superb courses .
Tennis and even a camel ride are all almost on the doorstep! The beaches are superb with wide golden stretches of sand and there are some natural coves to be explored a little further away.
In the winter months you can ski in the city of Granada which is just 2.5 hours away. The old town of Mojácar is only a short drive away is well worth a visit. You can catch a bus there in 15 mins. The pretty white-washed village is perched high on the hillside with extensive views of the surrounding area and is steeped in history. There are also local markets to explore on a Wednesday morning where you can find some great bargains!

MOJÁCAR PUEBLO is a beautiful Moorish village which from a distance looks as if it has been untouched for centuries. It has a distinctly fairy tale quality with its clusters of ancient whitewashed buildings clinging to the sides of the mountain. Mojácar is the largest and most popular tourist centre of this south-eastern corner of Spain but still remains unspoilt. For visitors, the old village is a delightful labyrinth of winding, cobbled streets with magnificent views to the mountains and sea, with great bars and variety of restaurants. Wednesdays is marketday where you can browse stalls for a bargain.
Just a short distance down the hill is MOJÁCAR PLAYA, the beach is 17 kilometres long, a large part of which is a designated area of natural beauty. It is estimated that 9 kilometres are developed but uncrowded, with long golden sands and Chiringuitos offering refreshing drinks, delicious lunches and tapas. Recently, three European Blue Flag Awards have been awarded to the beaches for cleanliness.
Residential buildings are restricted to only two storeys and hotels cannot be built higher than four floors. The result offers plenty of activities for the foreign holiday maker whilst retaining its traditional Spanish charm and character.
Just along the Paseo del Mediterraneo is the beautiful and lively fishing town of GARRUCHA which still retains much of its original charm. It has a great selection of tapas bars and excellent seafood restaurants serving the freshest catch of the day. They are supplied with fresh fish from the nearby port, if you find yourself down on the seafront at dawn you will experience the typically Mediterranean sight of a flotilla of small fishing boats setting out to sea. Later the fishermen host a daily fish auction at around 5pm in the quayside fish market.
Neighbouring VERA is home to a traditional Bull ring which still hosts regular performances and has a small museum inside for those interested in this traditional Spanish pastime. Vera also boasts a great water-park which is ideal for families and suitable for all ages.
TURRE is ostensibly a small village, which is growing rapidly. Situated to the north of the Sierra Cabrera on the river Aguas. It has a main street and the usual meandering side streets you expect in small Spanish villages. Turre also has many shops, restaurants, tapas bars, Internet cafes and coffee shops to choose from.
Fiestas are big in this part of Spain and Mojácar is no exception. The main celebrations are Carnival in February, Easter and Moors and Christians in June which is a non stop 3 day fiesta with ancient battles re-enacted on sea and shore and culminating in a spectacular parade led by the Moorish King on the last day. The last week in August has the 5 day village fiesta. These are just the important ones!
