GAUGUIN EXHIBITION AT THE TATE : THIS IS THE AREA WHERE HE PAINTED HIS WELL-KNOWN SCENES.

This detached cottage is situated in a quiet and peaceful hamlet amongst a few other gites, on a no through road and 600m from the centre of Moélan where you will find all types of shops, cafes and restaurants. Moelan is a typical Breton village with miles of cliff walks and small sheltered fishing ports like Merrien, Brigneau and Belon. The beautiful sandy beach of Kerfany les pins is a few minutes drive away.

The Brittany / Finistere region

The Quimperlé region consists of fine sandy beaches and small sheltered ports like Belon, Doélan and Brigneau. the town of Quimperlé has a quaint 'old town' crossed by the pretty Laita river.

The 'Carnoet forest' is great for walking and cycling. Pont-Aven, city of artists, is a character village with lots of art galleries and craftshops.

“Charming, rural setting.” Arrived in the rain and left in the rain ! Keys acquired from little lady next door who's daughter ,I believe is married to the owner. When we were there the "extension " ( ex garage) had not been finished but we had access to it as the fridge-freezer/ironing board etc were situated in that area. The kitchen was more than adequate ,room wise but lacked a "real" oven. In one of the cupboards there was an electrical appliance we were informed was "the oven". Perhaps, in hot weather, you would not require to use it. We didn't have that option ! The bench seating is cumbersome if there's only four people. The lounge could improved with comfier seating for four people and the toilet and shower downstairs ( just of the lounge ) is a little strange. We still don't know how the fire worked as its a pellet burning electric stove. The upstairs bedrooms with en-suite are excellent although the colour scheme and lighting could be improved. Very large and spacious with good cupboard storage. Single duvets on a double bed a little strange and took getting used to. Only French and German stations available on Sat television. Large, open sunny garden with plenty of room for children to play safely. One could walk into town very easily on market days or out for drink or meal of an evening yet return to the peace and quite of the house. Moelan-sur-mer is a lovely little village with enough shops and a decent sized Supermarket, again all within walking distance. Altogether , we had a great time despite the weather.
