The Sicily region

Sicily is the largest of the Italian islands, separated from the Continent by the Strait of Messina and surrounded by the Ionian, the Tyrrhenian and the Mediterranean Seas.

It is one of the pearls of Southern Italy and can be discovered, understood and experienced through a series of itineraries dedicated to areas of interest ranging from nature to history and traditions.

Nature seems to have endowed all its wonders to this land: mountains, hills and above all the sea, with its incredible colors, its crystal-clear water and the beauty of its seabeds, in no way inferior to those of other seas.

Modica

This is a province primarily designed by man. Farmers in particular have contributed to Ragusa's character, appearance and cuisine, for years shaping the countryside through seed-sowing and cultivation of the harvest that abounds on the people's tables, the same fruits of the soil making up the unique fragrances of Ragusan foods and wines.

Ragusa, Scicli and Modica are three pearls that are also declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

The coast offers not only beauty and nature, but also a number of opportunities for activities in the open air.

Ragusan gastronomy finds its roots in ancient traditions.

The simple dishes that are set on the tables of farmers were the starting point for the creation of tasty recipes maintaining that simplicity and genuineness which has always characterized this land's excellent cuisine.

Easily reachable by highway, Pozzallo agrees all tourists: who loves sea and most fine golden sand beaches, who wants to enjoy all the enterteinments offered by the 'movida pozzallese' (Blue Flag from 2001) or by the near Marina di Ragusa (Blue Flag from 2009), who loves art and archaeology will make it starting point for every day excursions between the baroque beauties of the Val di Noto (Caltagirone, Catania, Modica, Famous, Palazzolo Acreide, Ragusa, Scicli, Unesco World Heritage Site since the 2001), the greco-roman ruins of Siracusa and the Necropoli di Pantalica (Unesco World Heritage Site since the 2005), who loves the natural beauties could easily reach the Cavagrande di Cassibile natural reserve, the Vendicari faunal oasis, the Etna Park or the Alcantara Botanical and Geologic Park, who like 'food and wine' tourism will nicely lost among typical products ('cosacavaddu ragusano', almond of Avola, 'pomodorino di Pachino', chocolate of Modica, pistachio of Bronte, 'Nero d'Avola, 'Cerasuolo di Vittoria', and much more), finally it's possible to reach the near Malta island by every day connections in catamaran (1,5 h).
