Millwheel Cottage is ideally placed whether you wish a family holiday or a getaway for two. The estate itself offers much to do - indoor and outdoor swimming pools, fishing lake, picnic areas, gym, chjildrens play area, games room and woods. However, it is also just a few miles from the South Hams coastline and the expanse of Dartmoor. Take your pick from walks, surfing, horseriding, letterboxing on the moor or visiting the many holiday attractions in the area. Enjoy a cream tea or local food in the nearby towns of Salcombe, Totnes, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth.

The entrance door leads to a carpeted living and dining area which is open plan style. There is a leather sofa and flatscreen TV with integral dvd. The shaker style kitchen is equipped with microwave, hob, fan oven, larder fridge with ice box. . The circular dining table seats 4-5. There is a foldable high chair. Shared facilities include a laundry with washing machine and drier.

A small hall leads to the main bedroom which has built in wardrobe, chest of drawers and a king size bed. The second bedroom has full size bunks and a chest of drawers. A full size travel cot is available and will fit in either bedroom. The bathroom has an electric shower over the bath, toilet and handbasin.

The cottage is heated with electric storage heaters. Bedlinen (not cot) and towels are provided. Basic cleaning items are included. A box of toys and games are provided.

The outdoor pool is heated and open in high/mid season. The indoor pool is heated all year round. All other facilities are available at no charge all year. These include fishing lake, gym, pool table, walled garden, play area, woodland area, tennis court. There is a washing machine & dryer in the laundry room by the outdoor pool (£3). A coin operated land line is in the indoor pool block. Only 20 cottages are on site so the estate is never too crowded.

In winter there is a heating charge of £5 per day. The cottage changeover is Sat to Sat. However, short breaks and alternative changeover days can be requested out of high season.

The West Country has something for everyone.


Bigbury Bay is huge, sandy and popular with kite surfers. At low tide walk to Burgh Island and return on the tall tractor. Try Hope Cove, Salcombe, Thurlstone and Bantham. Many are Blue Flag.


One of Devon’s most spectacular assets, Dartmoor National Park covers around 369 square miles of open moorland, rocky tors and hidden river valleys. Dartmoor is home to plentiful native wildlife, including the famous Dartmoor ponies.


Surf school at Bigbury or canoe hire at Harberton. Sailing school at Dittisham. Boat hire at Dartmouth. Fishing trips galore.


Runs from Buckfastleigh to Totnes.


Try the Aquarium in Plymouth or the Eden Project in Cornwall. Cinemas in Torquay and Plymouth. Excellent theatre in Plymouth.


West Country wine, cheese and produce can be tasted at venues all over the South Hams. Lots of good pubs and restaurants can be recommended if requested.


All local events, festivals and attractions are listed at There is a dining pub (with free wi fi) and well stocked garage/shop 5 minutes walk away. Modbury itself (7 mins drive) has local bakery, deli, supermarket, gift shops, tourist office.
