About the home

The accommodation sleeps up to 4 people and consists of one main large living room with dining facility, one main bedroom, another separate bedroom, small kitchen and shower room/bathroom.

The apartment is in a very typical Bavarian house with wooden balcony and window shutters.
It is tastefully furnished and keeps with the Bavarian surroundings.

Nearby Garmisch-Partenkirchen is Germany’s No. 1 winter sports centre. This resort is fast becoming known for its all year-round attractions. In summer, the mountains offer the hiker 186 miles of paths from easy to hard. Clean, bracing air and breathtaking views over one of Europe’s loveliest landscapes. In winter, Garmisch is a paradise for skiers of any level. With over 120 miles of runs, downhill or cross-country. The runs are served by over thirty cable cars and lifts.

The Mittenwald area

Mittenwald is one of Germany’s prettiest Alpine towns. Many of the houses are covered in painted murals. During major church festivals and carnivals, many of the townspeople wear original traditional costumes. Violin-making has also been a feature of the town since 1684 and you can see violins being made at the town museum.

Mittenwald is just under 3000 feet above sea level and is set amidst some of Germany’s finest mountain scenery. It is the highest health and sports centre in the Bavarian Alps. This location makes it a good centre for exploring the whole of the surrounding Alpine region.
In the summer, Mittenwald provides a superb range of sporting activities including tennis, heated pools, swimming in clear mountain lakes and hiking. The Karwendel cable car, will take you up to a height of 2,244 m if you prefer not to walk up the mountains.

At 6.5Km Germany’s longest ski-run is at nearby Dammkar and skiers at all levels of proficiency will enjoy the ski centre at Kranzberg, with its chair-lift and T-lifts. Other activities available include Cross country skiing, a toboggan run, skating, summer and winter curling and horse-drawn sleigh rides.

The Gegenbaumuseum is another local place of interest, this outstanding museum houses over 200 instruments from all renowned Mittenwald workshops.
Violin Making has been taught in Mittenwald for over 150 years with students from all over the world attending.

Mittenwald is situated about 110 km south from the Bavarian capital Munich and 3 km distance from the Austrian border. The capital of the Austrian Tyrol, Innsbruck, is situated 40km south and can be reached easily by car or train.
