The Cornwall region

Cornwall is an iconic holiday destination, whether it be a day surfing on one of the many renowned surfing beaches, a superb meal in one of its many excellent restaurants or pubs or a walk around its dramatic coastline, Cornwall has it all and more besides.

Cornwall has won the title of 'Favourite UK Holiday County or Region' at the British Travel Awards for the last two years.

Mithian

Reputed to be one of the oldest villages in Cornwall, Mithian (Cornish: Mydhyen) is a picturesque village, full of character and charm where each building has its own individual story to tell.

The village is served by The Miners Arms, a 16th century pub that has had many varied uses over the years including a smugglers lair - the pub still has the original smuggling tunnel running under the road to the Old Manor House opposite.

Other buildings in the village are heavily linked to the areas mining heritage, such as the Rose-in-Vale Hotel which is originally thought to have been built as a winter home by Captain John Oates, the owner of the Wheal Leisure Copper mine in nearby Perranporth.

Mithian with its stunning countryside is the perfect setting for a romantic break or a family holiday. It is also a walkers heaven being perfectly situated for exploring the coastal paths, the captivating history and the beautiful nearby beaches of Trevaunance Cove and Trevellas Porth at St Agnes, Chapel Porth, and Perranporth.

Nearby St Agnes is a picturesque coastal village with all the necessary local amenities (convenience stores, butchers, bakers, pharmacy, hairdressers) plus many craft shops and galleries. There is also a bank and post office.
