The Midi-Pyrenees / Ariege region
The hamlet nestles in the foothills of the Pyrenees with Andorra and the higher Pyrenees within easy access. The medieval market town of Mirepoix is closeby with its cathedral and 14th Century timber framed buildings surrounding the main square, as is the bustling town of Pamiers with full amenities and services.
The majestic Pyrenees are to be seen in the distance, making a fantastic backdrop to the setting of the village. The Ariege benefits from hot summer months, warm early spring and late autumn and beautiful snowfall in the winter.
Mirepoix area
10 minutes from the medieval town of Mirepoix with its vibrant weekly market and specialist antique, craft, flower and apple fairs throughout the year. 40 minutes from the ancient walled city of Carcassonne with its fairytale spires and newer bastide with markets in the central square on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
20 minutes from Foix with its medieval hilltop castle, charming town centre with markets, restaurants and cafe bars and largest underground cave in Europe. 25 minutes from the stunning Lac Montbel with its beach areas for swimming, picnics and boat/pedalo hire. 1 hour 30 minutes from the Spanish border through Cathar country with breathtaking hilltop ruins. 1 hour to the bottom of the nearest ski slopes at Mont D'Olmes and Aix-les-Thermes with fantastic mountain biking out of ski season.
Easy access to the principality of Andorra. 1hour 15 minutes from Narbonne Plage with its extensive Mediterranean beaches.

Further details outdoors: The private and large secure gardens are fantastic for all ages with large swimming pool away from the house with pool safety fencing, a requirement in France. There is also a fully enclosed 12' trampoline enjoyed by children and adults alike!
The garden is full of fruit and nut trees, which can be enjoyed by guests when in season. As well as a good choice of trees for climbing there is also a play unit for children.

The outdoor pool is not heated and therefore ideally used from mid May til early October, weather permitting.
