The Midi-Pyrenees / Ariege region
The hamlet nestles in the foothills of the Pyrenees and you are close to Andorra and the higher Pyrenees which are easily accessible from here. The property is close to the medieval market town of Mirepoix and the bustling towns of Pamiers & Foix both of which offer full services and amenities.
The landscape is rolling farm land close by but the majestic Pyrenees are to be seen in the distance, making a beautiful backdrop to the setting of the apartment. Further afield you can visit the magnificent medieval city in Carcassonne the monastery at Monseigur & Rennes le Chateau the birth place of the Da Vinci code.
Mirepoix / Lapenne area
The apartment is located just outside a village called Lapenne and is situated approximately 10km from Mirepoix which has a busy season of festivals and activities and has rapidly become a great cultural centre for this region. There are events many weekends throughout the summer and the bustling medieval square hosts the regional market every Monday.
There is magnificent cathedral in the centre too which is not to be missed.
There are of course numerous bars cafes and restaurants around the square and in the adjoining side roads. Lac Montbel is close by where you can swim, there are also beach & picnic areas & here pedaloes can be hired in season.

Drive using A61 motorway, 30 mins from Castelnaudary junction (21).
Fly to Toulouse, just over 1 hours drive away.
Perpignan airport 2 hour drive. Carcassonne 45 mins drive. Barcelona Girona airport is 3 hours drive away.
