The house is nearby to the neighbouring region of Aude the house is ideally situated for historic Mirepoix and Carcassonne, Toulouse, Narbonne, Foix, Andorra, and Montsegur. The house has 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with jacuzzi bath, private walled garden and terrace. Lounge with leather settees, wood-burning stove. Large separate dining room. The Midi-Pyrenees / Ariege region
The village is nearby historic Mirepoix with the finest medieval square in France and its famous Monday market. 10 mins from Monsegur the last Cathar stronghold. The area abounds with history. Nearby are prehistoric caves including Niaux with its original cave paintings. Foix with its Castle and the longest underground navigable river in Europe.
10 mins away from Lac Montbel with a man-made beach for swimming, sailing, pedalos and fishing. Puivert with another castle and small lake with safe area for swimming, with children's playground.
The area abounds with natural beauty and is ideal for walking, cycling, fishing, rafting on the rivers and exploring historic castles and gorges.
The city of Carcassonne with the famous Le Cite is about an hour away. This is where Robin Hood Prince of Thieves was filmed. The beautiful city of Toulouse is 100 mins away, lovely for a day out. Narbonne and the mediterranean is also about 100 mins away.
The weather is hot in summer and cold in winter. In winter skiing is available 40mins away at Mont D'Olmes , a lovely inexpensive family resort and 1hr away at Ax le Thermes. Andorra with its duty free shopping is about 90 mins away.
Renne Le Chateau with its secrets of the priest Sauniere is less than1 hr away. As is the amazing Gorge of Galamus.
Mirepoix / La Bastide sur L'Hers area
IN the village of La Bastide sur L'Hers there are many festivals. During July and August there is a regular Thursday evening Market. On 13th July every year there is a celebration for Bastille Day where everyone eats outside under the Halle. There is music and dancing and a firework display. At the end of July and beginning of August there is a 4 day festival which includes live music every evening, majorettes and a meal outside for everyone. Many other activities take place throughout the year.
Each year the Tour de France passes nearby, this year it will pass through the village on 17th July. In nearby medieval Mirepoix throughout the summer there evening markets and a Medieval festival which includes a procession where everyone wears period costumes.
Every Easter there is a Jazz festival in Mirepoix.
The village is on the route vert, there are many footpaths where you can cycle or walk for miles in the beautiful countryside.

There is a downstairs bathroom, ideal for young children and the elderly. The upstairs bathroom has a jacuzzi bath. Large dining-room with bed-settee. The kitchen is fully equipped to the highest standard. Washer/dryer in garage with area for storage. The gite is fully equipped for children having cot, high chair, pushchair and lots of toys on request.
