About this location
The Dalmatia region
Four of eight Croatian National parks are located in Dalmatia: Paklenica, Krka, Mljet and Kornati. To those particularly valuable areas of natural heritage, we should add the areas under special protection – nature parks. There are three nature parks in Dalmatia: the southern Velebit, Telascica and Biokovo. Decide on your own which you would prefer: ravishing beauties created by nature or those created by people in the course of history. Dalmatia abounds in cultural and historical monuments of the Mediterranean culture, ancient monuments, monuments from the early Middle Ages, Romanesque sacral heritage and a series of well-preserved urban units characteristic for the Mediterranean. Four of six sites under protection of UNESCO are located in Dalmatia: the Diocletian's palace in Split, the towns of Dubrovnik and Trogir and St. Jacob's cathedral in Sibenik.
The Island of Brac is a well known and attractive tourist resting place in Croatia with beautiful beaches, of whom the most famous is Zlatni rt in Bol. On the northern side of the island is located Supetar, a peaceful oasis of an untouched nature and a place for all those who want to take a rest from their everyday life. In the center of Supetar is a port that connects it with Split, and western by the coast are spreading beautiful pebbly beaches in the bays Vlacica and Banj. Clean beaches are covered with small round and white stones and surrounded with pine forest.
For all those who love an active holiday, Supetar offers many sport fields for tennis, football, basketball, as well as for many water sports. By the island's coast you can find many hidden rocky beaches where you can get complete privacy.
