Further details indoors:
Entrance to this imposing four storey town house is via the huge double front doors into the spacious galleried vestibule with it's water feature and traditional arches leading to the Summer kitchen and wet room and tiled Catalan stairs rising to the mezzanine level.
With it's traditional wall hangings and sumptuous furnishings the mezzanine is an area of cool tranquillity in which to relax with a book or enjoy a game of chess perhaps or even sit gazing at the uninterrupted views of the river. If you need to keep in touch with 'real life' there is an office area with wifi internet connection. There is also a double bedroom on this floor.
On the second floor there are three charming bedrooms, all of which enjoy en suite facilities - two of these have enviable views of the River Ebro whilst the third has the unique aspect of the mountainside from which the lower two floors are formed. They are all exquisitely furnished in traditional style. There is also another seating area and a cloakroom/ WC close to the back door.
The third floor is given to the expansive open plan living space which is a superb feature of this enigmatic property! With it's original exposed beams and terracotta tiled floor this is where this beautiful home shows it's true glory... The superbly appointed kitchen has granite worktops and a butlers sink. There is also a large pantry which houses the fridge freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. Facilities also include a microwave and full range cooker. There are even 2 traditional six person wicker picnic baskets with blankets just waiting for you to pack them up with delicious local delicacies to enjoy in the glorious surrounding countryside or a jaunt to the coast or a day in the mountains.
The dining area is of particular note , housing the magnificent mahogany table and 8 stunning bergere chairs with majestic thrones to either end - surely the setting of atmospheric evening meals and good times in great company to be remembered for many years?
The large lounge area has enormous sumptuous leather sofas in which to sink into where conversation can go on into the early hours over a glass or two of tempranillo or enjoying one of the 200+ DVDs available to watch. Maybe even catching your breath between games on the Wii console provided? There are French doors opening out to a Juliet balcony enjoying unparalleled views over the River Ebro and onto the miles of surrounding countryside.
The top floor also enjoys a further en suite bedroom .
This unique property offers a rare opportunity to experience 5 star luxury holiday rental accommodation and one of the most spectacular views over the River Ebro. Nestled in the historic village of Miravet, the Casa Gran and the Casa Petita have undergone full restoration resulting in a perfect balance between the contemporary and the traditional.
All of the furnishings and fittings have been carefully selected to reflect the history of the house and region whilst offering a truly warm and hospitable environment in which to relax and unwind. The house enjoys air conditioning for those hot Summer months and heating for the cooler periods of the year, making this an ideal choice year round and a perfect base for all this delightful region has to offer.
Further details outdoors:
Just in front of La Casa Gran is the simple but beautiful 12th century medieval jetty which belongs to the property. The garden is landscaped in a contemporary Mediterranean style and offers extensive seating and dining opportunities whilst enjoying arguably the finest position in the village - one feels almost 'suspended' over the river when sat watching the sun dipping below the horizon bringing the curtain down on another memorable day.
It also enjoys a fantastic view of the templar castle to the right of the property.
The Costa Dorada/Tarragona region
Miravet is an historical and beautiful little village beside the River Ebro (the main river of Spain), in the Terres de l’Ebre region, next to the Costa Dorada at 20 min from the beach, 30 min from the Delta of the Ebro, 1 hour from Salou (Port Aventura) or Tarragona and at 2 hours from Barcelona (by train or by car).

Places of Interest
Most of the information below has come from The Raco de Temple
"Lo Racó del Temple"
The Information Point of Miravet is quite different to the rest of the region...
It’s an original establishment called Lo Racó del Temple (“the Templars store”) where you can get qualified information not only about Miravet, also about all territory, maps, guides, books and magazines.
At the same way you can find the typical products from the region (wines, oils, food, pottery, medieval music, etc.) and services like guide visits or restaurants and hotels bookings.
You have to ask for Aurelio “Monge” -the Monk-.
Miravet Castle
The castle strategically dominates the river Ebro, and was the last Arab redoubts in the country, until 1153. Given by Ramon Berenguer IV to the Templars, it became a centre of the great command of the Order that included Ribera d’Ebre and Terra Alta districts. When the Templar Order was abolished by the Pope of Rome, Miravet became the last place of resistance of the Templars at the Crown of Aragon.
The Ferry
It is a river ferry composed of two llaguts, or catboats, with a wooden platform joining them. It transports cars, animals and persons fron one side of the river to the other using the river current and the skill of the boatman, who controls the rudder and the supporting cables.
The Old Village
It is sheltered by the castle and the rock that overhangs the Ebro. Its streets still have porches and typical buildings with attics and wattle, but the most outstanding features are the last river shipyard of the Ebro, the medieval mill for varnish, wheat and oil, the arcade of the Moorish quarter, the balcony of the Sanaqueta and the Old Church.
The Pottery
There are still eight workshops, which are located together in the “Raval” quarter. There masters can be found making pieces by hand and still using the potter’s wheel; with shapes and glazes introduced from the Islamic world, such as pitchers, vats, jars, etc.
