The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne region
This region has many interesting places to visit some amongst the most famous in France: The renowned sites of the Vezere Valley, Grottes de Lascaux. Fortified market towns such as Sarlat, Bergerac, Villeneuve S/ Lot, Medieval "Chateaux": Biron, Bonaguil, Monbazillac, and the "bastides" so charactheristic constructed by the English and the French during the XIII th and the XIV th century: Mompazier, Villereal, Monflanquin, Duras, Monsegur are all around.
This region also offers an many vineyards, for winetasting, (Bergerac, Marmandais, Duras, Mombazillac, Pecharmant...) and famous for such products as "Foie Gras", "Confits", "Pruneaux d'Agen"...
The seaside resort of Arcachon is 1hr 45 - 2hr drive which boasts the biggest sand dune in europe and has some lovely beaches. Bordeaux is about 1 hr 30mins
Miramont area
Miramont is a Market Town located between Marmande & Eymet, Market day is Monday, there are also Supermarkets, Restaurants, Boulangeries, Pharmacies, Banks, Post Office if fact everything you need is here only 5 km away.
Fantastic Night Markets & Street Theatres are held at many of the local towns and villages during July and August where you can try the local cuisine, whilst soaking the ambiance, wine and listening to local bands etc
There are also many Sporting activities & in the area for all ages, Golf, Fishing, Tennis, Water Sking, Horse Riding to mention a few.
For the younger there is a Water Park, Canoeing, Go Karting, Adventure Park & a Children's Petting Fram where one can milk the goats & make cheese. .

St Malo is the nearest Ferry Port aprox. 6 1/2 hr drive. Depart Portsmouth, Brittiany Ferries & P & O. The Cheaper Ferries are L D lines Portsmouth or Newhaven to Dieppe 8 1/2 hrs drive. & Speed Ferries Dover to Calis 9 hrs drive.
