Casita Verde Miramar
About the home
Casita Verde is a traditional three-storey Spanish village house, well over 200 years old, which has been sympathetically modernised to offer cosy and stylish accommodation for the discerning traveller. It is built in the traditional style of Spanish terraced houses - long (for coolness in Summer, and conservation of warmth in Winter) with plenty of space for 4.The fully fitted kitchen is completely equipped and includes a dishwasher, gas hob and electric oven, microwave and a large fridge-freezer. There is a second summer kitchen off the roof terrace with sink, combination oven/ microwave, fridge, washing machine and tumble drier. A gas kettle barbecue which also acts as an oven is on the terrace itself. There are two bedrooms; one King Size and one twin. Other facilities include: trouser press, air conditioning, ceiling fans, electric heating, gas barbecue, Satellite TV. Linens are included. Beach umbrellas, beach towels (and a trolley to put them all in!) are also included. Tastefully decorated and beautifully furnished, this is not just a holiday home; it is a home from home.
Late or early arrivals are not a problem. Don't waste money on an airport hotel! We live in a nearby village, so are always available to meet you with keys and answer any questions you may have.
Guests who prefer to arrive via public transport from Valencia to Gandia (our nearest railway station) can be collected by arrangement, or taxis are available outside the train station.
Miramar is a very small traditional Spanish village surrounded by orange groves which lead to the beach. We benefit from a very sensitive mayor who allows new housing development on the outskirts of the village, but has worked very hard to preserve the antiquity of the centre, where we are. Beautifully sculpted trees line the roads, and any renovation has to be sympathetic with the original "feel" of the village.
Casita Verde is on the village town hall square, which is a relaxing pedestrianised environment with fountains. It can get lively at fiesta time, but the windows are all double-glazed, which restricts the sound. There are a number of beautifully landscaped parks just a few moments' stroll away.
The roof terrace is private, and is perfect for getting an all-over tan. The sun is on the terrace most of the day, and the pergola provides the option of shade or sun. Sun loungers are provided. There is a cooling shower for refreshment.
Casita Verde is an excellent choice for a well-deserved break, a romantic getaway, family holiday, chill-out or the centre for exploration.

BookThe Costa Blanca / Valencia / Valencia Province region
Miramar is in the La Safor area of the Valencia Community, with green and lush valleys filled with extensive orange groves which scent the fertile landscape. The dramatic and impressive La Safor mountain range rises behind Gandia, the historic capital of La Safor. Gandia is a bustling Mediterranean town offering great shopping and countless bars and restaurants, offering an international range of inexpensive menus and local wines or gourmet fine-dining and sommelier selection. Gandia has a thriving music and cultural scene, with a number of Cinemas, Theatres, Clubs and Discos for the young-at-heart and has one of the best beaches in the area which for many years been the favourite holiday destination for Spanish people. The beautiful Blue Flag beaches with their golden sands stretch along the shoreline for some ten miles and have an impressive range of medical stations, lifeguards and, in the summer, beach cafés.
Playa Miramar is a small friendly and quiet resort with a wide, very long, sandy blue flag beach offering safe shallow waters for swimming. The long promenade lined with palm trees is popular with locals for their evening stroll and within the beach area there are many small shops, local bakers, numerous bars & good restaurants.
Valencia's international airport (only 45 minutes from Gandia) has cheap flights making La Safor an inexpensive and easy region to access. While desirable, a car is not essential since easy public transport takes you directly from Valencia airport to Gandia, with Miramar a short taxi trip further. Alicante airport is only an hour or so away by car. Transfers from either airport can be arranged upon request.
The La Safor region is unspoilt and more beautiful than any other Spanish coastal region, where tiny pueblos nestle in amongst the citrus groves and have remained largely unchanged for generations. Forming part of the Costa Azahar (Orange Blossom Coast) the delightful name speaks for itself. The province of Valencia benefits from 320 days of sunshine each year with average daytime temperatures ranging from 15-32 degrees Celsius. This area has a gentle climate, allowing those staying in La Safor to enjoy an al fresco lifestyle during a large part of the year.
The region has a long tradition of fiestas undiminished by time. The Fallas in March provide a spectacular example of the exuberance of Spanish celebration, and the Moors and Christian festivals celebrate the history of the region. A strong community spirit exists within a tolerant, good humoured and kindly local population who are welcoming to visitors. Children still play freely and safely in the roads and squares. The traditional siesta is a firm institution with shops and offices closing between 2pm to 4pm throughout the year. A Spanish Sunday remains a traditional day of tranquillity.
Valencia city is famous for its sporting, cultural and commercial achievements. A wonderful, historic city with fabulous shopping and breathtaking architecture which includes the astonishing City of Arts and Sciences, it has sufficient cultural attractions to satisfy even the most demanding. With an inexpensive direct half-hourly train service from Gandia or only one hour drive from Miramar it is easily accessed. The new direct, high-speed rail link means a journey from Gandia to Madrid takes only three and a half hours in relaxed comfort.
Within an hour's drive are Guadalest, Port America's Cup, The Valencia Grand Prix, Cheste Motor Cycle Championship Racing, The Benidorm Palace, Terra Mitica, Aqualandia, The Albufera Wetlands, Valencia Bioparc Zoo, Museums and Galleries, and Lladro Factory. Closer-by visitors can enjoy Fishing, Oliva Nova Golf, Go-Karting, Jet-Ski and Boat Hire, Naturist Beaches, Mountain Rambling and Walking, Cycling, Historic Buildings, Palaces, Monasteries, Churches and Castle ruins to explore. Denia and Calpe are only half an hour drive south and a number of ceramics, leather-goods outlets and shopping centres provide ample opportunities to support the local economy!

We found the house to be very clean @ well equipped. Owners were very kind and helpful. One small drawback was lack of eateries locally but overall we had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday. I would recommend this casita for anyone who likes a quiet and relaxing stay. I would consider returning in the future. |

Exactly what we were looking for: a remarkably well-equipped house in a quiet village but only a short walk from the beach and its buzz. It suited the two of us (plus dog) perfectly and is set to become a regular retreat. Response: We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay, and that you will return! It was a pleasure to have you as guests. We are working on a more permanent wifi solution...... |
