Granary Cottage is set within rolling countryside in the conservation village of Minto. The cottage was converted from original stone steadings dating back to the early 1800s, and is surrounded by gardens and fields beyond.

The property overlooks Minto golf course and enjoys views of Minto Hill and Ruberslaw.

The tranquillity and the comfort of the cottages ensures that guests enjoy a relaxing holiday, surrounded by numerous opportunities for leisure activities, including walking, cycling, golf and fishing. A wealth of historic towns and places of interest are within a short drive including the abbey towns of Melrose, Jedburgh and Kelso.

Edinburgh is just over an hour away, providing many opportunities for sight seeing and visiting the festival.

Pubs, restaurant and shops just over a mile away.

Granary Cottage has been converted and furnished to a high standard with double bedroom, en-suite bathroom, sitting room and kitchen area.

Granary Cottage is at first floor level accessed by external stone steps.The cottage was primarily designed for couples but those with a small child are most welcome to bring their own cot.

Granary Cottage is located at first floor level accessed by a flight of stone steps. The accommodation is bright with panoramic views of the hills and the adjoining golf course. A well equipped kitchen and sitting room with sofa , chairs, tables and digital TV leads to a bedroom with King Size bed and en-suite bathroom with a shower over a full sized bath. .

Granary Cottage is part of an attractive conversion of stone buildings set within almost an acre of gardens. A secluded area of garden, equipped with table, chairs and barbeque is provided for the sole use of the cottage guests.

Heating, electricity, bed linen and towels are provided free of charge. However we do reserve the right to make an additional charge for excessive use of heating. Each cottage is available from 4 o'clock on Saturday afternoon until 10 o'clock the following Saturday morning. We may also be able to offer Friday to Friday, please check on availability.

We can sometimes offer short breaks for a minimum of 2 nights. Please contact us to discuss availability.

A non-refundable deposit of £60 is required when giving written confirmation of a booking. The balance is then due 30 days prior to arrival. If the booking is in less than 30 days the full amount is required on confirmation. A receipt and directions to Townhead Steading will be sent when the balance is received. Please make cheques payable to Sheila Perrins.

Any cancellation made by the visitor for whatever reason should be in writing to the owner. On receipt of notice of cancellation, every effort will be made to re-let the cottage for the period of the booking. If the cottage is re-let for the whole period, all monies paid will be refunded less the deposit and an administration charge of £40 per week booked. If we are unable to re-let the cottage at all, then all monies paid by the visitor are forfeit to the owner. For this reason, cancellation insurance is strongly recommended.

We request that guests do not smoke indoors.

The Scottish Borders region

The Scottish Borders offers beautiful unspoilt rolling countryside, steeped in history with a wide variety of events, attractions and activities.

There are many castles, stately homes, abbeys and gardens to visit in the region and nearby Lothians and Northumberland. Many of which are owned by Historic Scotland or the National Trust for Scotland and include Melrose, Dryburgh, Kelso and Holyrood Abbeys, Smailholm Tower, Greenknowe Tower, Hermitage Castle, Edinburgh Castle, Linlithgow Palace,Tantallon Castle, and Hailes Castle. Other famous attractions including Floors Castle, Abbotsford House and Traquair House are well worth the visit.

The region has excellent walking and cycling routes including the Borders Abbey Way, St. Cuthberts Way, John Buchan Way and the Southern Uplands Way. Off road forest cycling and mountain biking is available in many forest areas and European cylcle ways are designated throughout the area.

The area has some of the best golf courses to be found, with 21 courses in the region, most within a thirty minute drive of Minto.

There are upland areas, moors, lochs, forests, rivers and beautiful long beaches on the east coast.

The area also offers many festivals and sporting events throughout the year. Highlights include the Edinburgh Festival and Tatoo, The Common Ridings in the towns of Hawick, Selkirk, Langholm and Galashiels which have become international festivals celebrating the history of Borders riding clans. The Melrose Book Festival, Borders Walking Festival and the Rugby Sevens in Melrose, Hawick and Selkirk are all major events, attracting visitors throughout the UK and from further afield.

Minto

Minto is a conservation village built by the Earl of Minto in the early 19th century. There is hill and river walking from the cottage. The Minto Golf course immediately in front of the cottage offers an excellent 18 hole golf course with a friendly club offering good facilities, food and drink. The village of Denholm with a few shops, two pubs, a restaurant and an attractive village green is just over a mile away. The town of Hawick with good shops, supermarkets and woolen factory shops is a further six miles. The neighbouring towns of Melrose and Jedburgh also offer an excellent selection of restaurants, pubs, shops and tourist attaractions.

"Super cottage in an amazing location"

Myself and my daughter have stayed at Granary cottage on 3 separate occasions - each time we've had a super holiday. The cottage is in an amazing location, the facilities are excellent with little extras like home-baked scones, fruit and a carton of milk supplied too! The rental cost is very good value for money, and I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone wanting to explore the borders. We are definitely going to plan a fourth holiday at Granary cottage.

"Beautiful"

These cottages are both lovely with fantastic views of Minto hill. The location is good for walking and not too far to walk to the nearest pub. The owners are a nice couple and very helpful. We loved it so much we have already booked to go back for our anniversary.
