This charming cottage is located in a quiet lane, 500m from the Canal du Midi, in the sought-after village of Homps. 20 minutes from the medieval city of Carcassonne and 20 minutes from the mediterranean town of Narbonne with its blue flag beaches.
The property, which was renovated in 2005, offers an en-suite double bedroom and an additional sofabed in the living area. It is simply but tastefully furnished with a peaceful, south-facing decked courtyard garden and plunge pool.
The owner’s family produce and bottle their own wine and they look forward to sharing their wine-tasting knowledge with you!

Based in the heart of the Minervois vineyards, Homps offers peace & quiet, beautiful scenery, great local watersports, hill-walking, horse-riding & cycling.
Homps is centrally located in the Minervois basin with the Black Mountains to the North and the Pyrenees to the South. Carcassonne and its famous medieval City is 30 minutes drive. The Mediterranean beach resorts are also only a 30 minute drive from Homps.
The village of Homps is conveniently located to explore the Cathar Country and the medieval Cathar hamlet of Minerve, perched amidst the deep gorge of the River Cesse.
Minervois / Homps area
Homps is an attractive and well-equipped village with a good range of local amenities and several good restaurants. Hire a bike or a canalboat from the village to enjoy an afternoon out on the famous Canal du Midi.
Take a dip in the nearby Lac de Jouarres with its lifeguard surveillance during the summer. The Lac de Jouarres also has a thriving population of windsurfers, dinghy & catamaran sailers. Or for the less energetic, enjoy lunch at the lakeside café, which is a 5 minute stroll from the gite.
2km from Homps, lies the market town of Olonzac with its weekly French farmer’s market. Additional weekly markets rotate through the neighbouring villages all within a short drive from the property.

Further details indoors: The gite is centrally located and simply furnished. Measuring 50m2 it is ideal for a couple or small family. The 25m2 living area, equipped with TV & DVD/CD player, has a sofa bed and dining area leads into the open-plan bright and modern kitchen which is well equipped with ample worksurface, a breakfast bar, a gas hob, cooker, fridge, microwave plus many other modern conveniences.
The bright and airy 16m2 bedroom has a double bed and overlooks the decked courtyard and pool. The modern en-suite shower room with WC and wash hand basin also accommodates the washing machine.
The accommodation is all on one level with attractive terracotta tiled flooring throughout.
Maid service is available on request. Please note: Bedlinen & bath towels are available to hire. We ask you to bring your own beachtowels.
Further details outdoors: The gite is accessed via a quiet lane with parking directly outside the front door.
The kitchen opens onto an enclosed, south-facing, decked courtyard with a 3m x 4m plunge pool, summer kitchen and BBQ. Sun loungers and patio furniture for up to 4 guests make this an ideal location to enjoy an aperitif under the shade of the fig tree in summer!
