Both provide excellent services enabling you to visit further afield without the hassle of driving or finding places to park.
Minehead offers everything you would need for a relaxing holiday. Good restaurants, good pubs, a wonderful sandy beach. Great selection of shops and all high street banks. Supermarkets are on the edge of the town (Tesco & Morrisons). Minehead also has a golf club, horse riding stables, cycle hire and fantastic walking expeditions. A ride on the steam train is a must. Visit the small outlying villages such as Dunster (Medieval with its wonderful castle) Selworthy with its traditional thatched cottages and beautiful church, Bossington, Porlock and many many more.
Plenty of events and activities, festivals and celebrations are available throughout the whole year. Minehead has something to offer every month, through all seasons.
Steeped in history Minehead is a town that offers old historic buildings and houses as well as modern additions to keep up with the pace. The harbour has a mix of sailing vessels, privately owned boats and commercial fishing boats for those wanting to catch their own supper. The Regal Theatre is located in the town centre and provides amazing entertainment with productions from the local Amateur Dramatics Society as well as shows visiting from the bigger cities.
The sandy beach stretches in a semi circle from the harbour at one end round to the golf club at the other end and extending to around half a mile. Lined with traditional seaside shops/outlets and arcades this gives a real holiday ambiance to your stay in this lovely little town.
Outlying villages such as Dunster, Porlock, Bossington and Selworthy, offer even more historic homes and buildings with shops to mooch around, pubs and restaurants overlooking the sea or rural areas (depending which village you visit) and plenty of activities to participate in. Take a safari trip in a Landrover and see the red deer in their natural habitat. Join a walking group and take the opportunity to see the amazing Exmoor National Park. Or just relax, on the beach; with a round of golf or pony trekking.
