Thyme Cottage is a 17th-century thatched cottage offering characterful accommodation for 6 in a fabulous location in the heart of Dunster, one of the most photographed villages in Somerset.
Enter into a beamed living/dining area with wood-burner. Further comfortable seating for you to relax is situated in sitting room with electric 'wood burner' in the inglenook, the galley-style kitchen leads to is a small courtyard area with a table and seating. Upstairs there two double bedrooms as well as a twin bedroom. One of the bathrooms is found off the hall with a shower over the bath and toilet; the second bathroom is comprised of shower and toilet and is an en-suite bathroom off one of the double bedrooms.
Thyme Cottage kitchen is fitted with dishwasher, washing machine, fridge-freezer, microwave, electric oven and hob. Other equipment includes toaster, kettle, a variety of kitchen utensils, cutlery, crockery and glasses. A television and DVD player are provided. Two travel cots and a high chair are available for your use. Wifi has recently been installed for guests' use and is free of charge.
Electricity and heating costs are included in the price of your accommodation. Thyme Cottage has central heating newly installed in 2013. In addition the sitting room is fitted with electric 'wood burner', and the living/dining area has a feature fireplace (initial fuel included, thereafter available locally).
Bed linen, duvets, blankets and towels are provided for your convenience, but please bring your own beach towels if you wish to take towels with you on day trips. Bed linen is not supplied for the cots.
Thyme Cottage has a small enclosed courtyard with a bench and tables at the back of the property, with use of a BBQ for those sunny days! NB 2 small steps here.
Due to the development of this beautiful village prior to the invention of motor cars, parking in Dunster is limited. However, by staying in Thyme cottage you have the benefit of close location to public parking within 200 yards, if the nearby street parking is busy.
We allow up to 3 well behaved dogs, who will love the numerous walks that start from within minutes of the property! Please do not allow your dogs on the furniture or upstairs (we provide a stair-gate to assist with this) and do not leave them alone in the property at any time.

The West Country region
Exmoor is situated in South West Britain, specifically across West Somerset and North Devon. Often referred to as England's best kept secret, Exmoor is a wonderful holiday destination for anyone looking for a holiday in the great outdoors! There's so much to see and do, from short walks to long expeditions across the moors or horse riding, taking in a safari or sight-seeing at your own pace around the 'picture postcard' villages and hamlets.
It is generally recognised that Dunster is one of the most perfectly preserved medieval villages in England, with origins dating back to the times of Bronze and Iron Age Britain - it is a must for visitors to Exmoor!
Situated in a sheltered valley the north-east boundary of Exmoor National Park, the Yarn Market stands proud in the High Street as a reminder that Dunster was once an important centre for cloth manufacture. There are many attractive and historic features, fine thatched cottages, a 17th century watermill (which still grinds flour), a pack horse bridge spans the little river Avill and of course Dunster Castle. Today the village has a fabulous selection of restaurants, pubs and tearooms plus a wide range of independent galleries and shops which offer a first-class shopping experience - more than enough to keep you occupied for at least a whole day!
Dunster is a bustling village comprised of several restaurants, pubs and tea rooms, plus a varied range of independent shops. 'The Stags Head' is restaurant/country inn only a very short walk away, providing a cosy atmosphere and excellent food. The Foresters Pub is another choice for drinking only 50 yards away. Many of the shops in Dunster are open during traditional hours of 9 am to 5 pm, although hours are often extended during the summer season. Conversely, some shops may also reduce their opening days and/or hours out-of-season. The village post office has a cash machine.
Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 1.5 miles from Thyme Cottage. Here you will find the larger supermarkets and petrol stations (Tesco and Morrison's are both situated on the outskirts of the town and have long opening hours), most major high street banks with cash machines, plus a range of other shops throughout the town. A tourist information centre is situated on the seafront at Minehead.
