The Cotswolds region
KNOWN as the "undiscovered Cotswolds" , the Cotswolds well kept secret , cherished by those who live here and loved by those who experience it.! A very arty ecclectic mix of people live here and those with an entrpreneurial spirit .. you never know what amazing small business you may find tucked away.
STEPPING OUT for a wintery walk to the 600 acres of NT common land where cows roam freely from May to October across the public golf course too..the STUNNING VIEWS everywhere will just dominate your stay.and from the doorstep too. Brilliant eating out pub/restaurants with open fires and a very friendly community to welcome you. Loads of my personal jottings about where to go locally for eating ,drinking ,walking, visiting in the cottage with loads of pics....When the canal eventually completes its restoration to Brimscombe Port it will be AMAZING!!
This is a very arty area of the Cotswolds with numerous arts, music and food festivals taking place throughout the year. The world famous Cheese Roll and Tetbury Woolsack Races, Gatcombe and Badminton Horse trials, Cheltenham Race festival too. The beautiful Westonbirt Arboretum, Berkley Castle, both with special events and open air concerts.
Brimscombe Port is below us and was once known worldwide as exporter of top quality wool from the Cotswolds, today it is undergoing the very start of restoration, eventually to make the local canals navigable again and finally to link the River Severn to the River Thames, making England navigable by water from west to east!
We have gardens and castles, shopping centres or for antiques and architectural salvage, but are roughly central in the Cotswolds for Bath, Cheltenham, Oxford, Stow, Burford, Cirencester etc
We are happy to help guide /book events for you to help you get the most out of yourstay at our cottages.
The award winning Farmers' Market just 2 miles away in Stroud every Saturday is a brilliant start to any holiday, buzzing with vibrance and atmosphere you will absolutely love it.. Excellent base for a Cotswolds wedding with what must be the best scenery in the Cotswolds, amazing walks with something around every corner!
Ideal location for Gatcombe and Badminton eventing, riding ,gliding, ballooning, waterskiing on lakes, clay pigeon shooting, arts and crafts courses, antiques trail etc - we can help to organise all these for you and much more.

We are so very glad you loved your stay at Hillcrest Cottage-that means I have done my job! We dont ask for reviews ( unlike many cottage owners) so that is even better when you have taken the time and trouble-Thank you.
We know we are priviledged to live in such a beautiful & quieter part of the Cotswolds and to share those STUNNING VIEWS with Hillcrest Cottage.
I do try to make it home from home beyond the practical things of our "special" cooker, etc, with the finishing touches. This includes make the childrens bedroom feel welcoming too ... happy children means happy parents.
Today the beautiful views of autumn trees in the sunshine, beckens for me to tend the cottage garden before winter really sets in !
Thank you once again for your review.

We are really pleased you so enjoyed stay at Hillcrest and would like to stay again. Since your stay ,we have lost one tree in the garden which has turned the STUNNING VIEWS into a truly STUNNING PANARAMA- a real WOW!....(especially from the main bedroom balcony). As always, we endeavour to make the cottage "homely" but with a touch of contemporary style. We look forward to welcoming you back even for a short break , available all year!
