The Costa del Sol/Malaga region
The town is situated high in the hills that rise quickly from the coast of the Costa del Sol. The Costa del Sol has some of the best weather in mainland Spain with at least 300 days of sunshine annually. There are many golf courses which can be played all year around as well as a whole range of other activities such as sailing, dolphin safaris, scuba diving, horse riding and many more.
Travelling inland you will find the ancient town of Ronda, one of the most interesting towns in Andalucia with its monuments and secluded Moorish palaces, well worth a visit. There is also the city of Granada with its famous Alhambra Palace and gardens.
For those wishing to travel further within the region, trips to Savilla, Cadiz, Gibralta, Tangier, lake district and Nerja caves can be booked locally.
The ancient town of Mijas is known to have existed for many centuries. The church, completed in the early 18th century, covers the ruins of a Moorish castle that occupied the site from the 8th century until the late 15th century, when it was partially destroyed by the returning Christians.
Mijas Pueblo area
The beautiful town of Mijas pueblo is one of the few typical white villages that retains a true Spanish charm and is one of the most photographed in the whole of Spain. The village offers many shops and restaurants. There is also a main square where in the summer months many local events and fiestas are held.
It is also nice to explore the village through the cobbled streets where around every corner there will be something new to discover. Surrounding the village there are the Mijas mountains where there are many walking trails with breath taking views at each corner.
The sun lovers amongst you , the sweeping promenade and sandy beach of Fuengirola is just 15 minutes by car by the local bus. Los Boliches being the quieter end, or if you prefer a bit more seclusion the small marina and beach of Cabopino is just along the coast towards Marbella.
How to get there
Easyjet, BA or Monarch into Malaga, numerous car hire companies at airport - we normally book through Holiday Auto's.
