The Andalucia region

The Costa Del Sol welcomes more than two million people a year who arrive at Malaga international airport and head to one of the many resorts located along this stretch of coastline.

With the Costa del Sol weather giving average annual temperatures of 18ºC and over 300 days of sunshine per year it isn't difficult to understand why it is one of Europe's top holiday destinations.

There are around 70 Costa del Sol golf courses on the "Costa del Golf" which can be played all year round as well as a whole range of other activities available such as sailing, scuba diving, horse riding, dolphin safaris, etc. The list is endless.

Away from the coast there are numerous excursions into the real Spain with the cities of Ronda, Seville, Cordoba and Granada all accessible for day tours. For the more adventurous you can also take a 15km trip across the Straits of Gibraltar to visit Tangier in Morocco.

Mijas Pueblo

Mijas is one of the most picturesque white villages in the Costa del Sol with its cobble stoned narrow streets and pretty squares. As you meander along its streets you will hear the clip clop of horses hooves and bells as horse drawn carriages sweep past you, the horses cantering along. Another familiar sight is of tourists riding donkeys (El burro taxi)- This spectacular mountain village draws tourists to it like a magnet, and little wonder as it nestles into a backdrop of mountains with its panoramic views over the countryside and to the Mediterranean sea beyond. There are white washed traditional houses, their balconies spilling over with pots of red geraniums. and street vendors selling hot sugared almonds all adding to the sights of this bustling mountain village.

Just a short drive from Malaga Airport, Mijas has a timeless quality about it, and despite the large number of tourists who regularly visit it, retains its Spanish essence and character. For this reason it is sought out as an exclusive holiday destination, and also by those who decide to live here on a permanent basis. Mijas offers you excellent choices – within the village itself traditional Spanish style townhouses or luxury modern apartments, and in the surrounding suburbs a choice ranging from medium sized townhouses to large luxurious villas set within their own grounds.

Mijas itself offers you:

Shopping with high quality jewellery, ceramic and leatherware in addition to excellent artisan and craft shops.

Excellent Restaurants – The restaurants in Mijas have deservedly built up an excellent reputation for their high quality food and friendly service.

Its Tourist Information Office situated above the Municipal Car Park in Plaza Virgen de la Peña, where information can be obtained on local events, concerts and nearby attractions.

The Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) with its beautiful marble patio with fountains, a popular choice for weddings. If you decide to marry in Mijas,we will be pleased to help you organise this happy event.

Constitution Square – a fabulous place to sit enjoying a meal or drink in one of the local restaurants and just watch the world pass by.

Shrine Virgen of the Rock: The Shrine holds the image of the patroness of Mijas, the Virgin of the Rock. Legend has it that the image of the Virgin was hidden during 5 centuries and was found in 1586 by the father of two shepherd boys who were led to the hiding place by a dove.

"El Carromato de Max": A museum of miniatures, one of the most important of its kind with works from over 50 countries.

The Casa Museo: Established in 1995 the Museum reproduces a traditional village house and informs you of local traditions.

Church Inmaculada Concepcion: Built in 1541 on the site of an ancient Moorish castle, one of the castle towers was used as a bell tower. A series of frescos of the Apostles date back to approximately 1632.

Fortress walls: La Ruta del Botanica The remnants of the fortress that used to protect the village with its pretty gardens and spectacular view point.

Malaga Wine museum – well worth a visit with its selection of wines from all over the world.

San Sebastian Street – this typical street is one of the most picturesque and photographed streets of the coast.

Mijas is quite simply beautiful! But don't take our word for it – come and see for yourself.

"Impressive views with a comfortable apartment"

This property provided spectacular views from Mijas over Fuengarola to the Med. from a balcony off the master bedroom, living room and the roof terrace. With a well equipped kitchen, a lift to the penthouse floor, TV, WiFi and secure parking it was an ideal property. The location could not have been much closer to the town centre with all the bars and restaurants easily accessed. Escape in the hire car was easy but we used the buses which ran frequently.
A lovely property managed by friendly and helpful agents would recommend to anyone. There was a steep walk up a hill to the town centre but this was easily defeated by using the lift in the multi storey car park which was only a few yards from the apartment building. We would stay in this property again anytime.
