Los Molinos apartment, Mijas Pueblo, Costa del Sol
Los Molinos is a spacious, airy one bedroom apartment ideal for couples.
It benefits from a lovely position on a pretty pueblo (nearest translation = village) which is terraced into the mountainside high above the sweeping coastline of the Cost Del Sol: there are wonderful views everywhere.
This peaceful, attractive pueblo is terraced into the contours of the mountainside and is in keeping with the old Spanish style of narrow walkways and staircases.
Entering the pueblo from the main road is like discovering a different world. It is a select residential area, adorned with fountains and flowers complimenting the sandy coloured flagstones and terracotta tiled roofs. A swimming pool, shared only by owners and renters, is to be found two terrace levels above the apartment.

|Further details indoors|
The living room is a large L-shaped room furnished in traditional Spanish style with some genuine antiques.
One leg of the L has an attractive fireplace, two x two-seater couches, low occasional, tables with lamps, coffee table and several traditionally-designed Spanish dressers/cupboards. The other leg of the L is home to an antique dining table and four carved dining chairs.
The whole room is light and bright having three large sets of double glazed French windows leading out onto "Juliette-style” balconies. One faces south where the view ultimately leads towards Fuengirola and the sea and the other two overlook the delightful plaza and splashing fountain.
The amply sized bedroom also benefits from a set of French windows overlooking the plaza and a further window. The room is furnished with a double four poster bed, with drapes, bedside tables and lamps, a full length mirror and a dressing table, with a further lamp. One whole wall is devoted to fitted wardrobes.
There is a small safe inside the wardrobe.
The kitchen is off the living room, open plan. It is well-equipped and includes full oven and four ringed ceramic hob, fridge with good freezer compartment, microwave, toaster, coffee maker and a plentiful supply of cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils. There is also a washing machine, tumle dryer and ironing facilities.
Finally, the spacious bathroom is well fitted with bath, over-bath shower, washbasin, toilet and bidet. A plentiful supply of towels is kept in a big cupboard.
There are well stocked bookshelves, games, beach towels and beach bag, picnic ware, a silver sun screen for your hire car and more. All equipment not locked away is for your use and enjoyment and you will find two modern, lightweight deckchairs to take outside and relax in the plaza.
|Further details outdoors|
Right outside is a pretty plaza (square) with a fountain and flower pots. There are two wrought iron tables with chairs for your use and we also have two lightweight deckchairs to carry out for futher comfort.
Two levels up from the apartment is the shared pool and sun-deck area. There are loungers and sun-brollies for your use.
At the end of the pueblo, close to our apartment, you'll find a small car park. The spaces are not dedicated as such to the pueblo but it is usually possible to get a spot here and is very convenient indeed.
The apartment is thoroughly cleaned before and after guests; we can arrange for a "mid-let" clean for an extra charge, though most guests prefer to do basic tidying and cleaning themselves (and avoid the usual annoyance of being bothered by cleaners!).
A deposit of £100 is required to secure a booking at Los Molinos. Receipt of the deposit constitutes a contract for the rental of Los Molinos and is non-returnable. The balance for the remainder becomes due eight weeks before departure to Los Molinos. The price, the number of named occupants, the period and the precise dates of rental have been agreed between the renters and the owners of Los Molinos and will be fixed.
The Costa del Sol region
The Costa del Sol (Coast of the Sun) enjoys around 320 days of sun per year. The temperatures can sometimes reach 30 degrees celsius even in November and February! More commonly these times of year are temperate with gentle sunshine and maybe a cool breeze in the early spring. By May, warm days and evening are more guaranteed and of course the summers are reliably sunny and warm alomost every day, right through until November.
Fuengirola is a short bus or car ride downhill: East from here is Benalmadena and Torremolinos and West, Marbella and Puerto Banus. This long stretch of coastline offers a huge variety of beaches and entertainment from aqua parks to theatres, from quaint Spanish “ventas” to five star restaurants. Venturing further afield, it is possible to visit Ronda, Gibraltar and Granada as a day trip. Seville is a little further and even North Africa is accessible (one of the many small tourist offices will help you arrange this).
Nestling half way up a three thousand foot mountain, beautiful Mijas is surrounded by spectacular scenery: the centre offers a choice of stunning viewpoints where you can watch the world go by whilst enjoying a flavoursome Spanish coffee or a refreshing sangria.
A wander round the narrow streets will lead you to the bullring, set on a lofty plateau, the site of an ancient Arab fortress, now exquisitely landscaped to entice visitors onto a trail of panoramic vistas. Make a pilgrimage to the historical healing shrine of the Lady de la Pena, where visitors have flocked for four hundred years, or climb the hill behind the two shrines, oases, high above the village.
After the excitement of a busy day sightseeing, shopping or soaking up the sun at the beach, returning to Mijas and feeling its dignity and tranquillity will almost certainly be the part of your holiday that you will cherish.
