The Costa del Sol region

The Costa Del Sol welcomes more than two million people a year who arrive at Malaga international airport and head to one of the many resorts located along this stretch of coastline.

With the Costa del Sol weather giving average annual temperatures of 18ºC and over 300 days of sunshine per year it isn't difficult to understand why it is one of Europe's top holiday destinations.

There are around 70 Costa del Sol golf courses on the "Costa del Golf" which can be played all year round as well as a whole range of other activities available such as sailing, scuba diving, horse riding, dolphin safaris, etc. The list is endless.

Away from the coast there are numerous excursions into the real Spain with the cities of Ronda, Seville, Cordoba and Granada all accessible for day tours. For the more adventurous you can also take a 15km trip across the Straits of Gibraltar to visit Tangier in Morocco.

Mijas Pueblo

One of the jewels of the Costa del Sol is the beautiful little village of Mijas, which nestles comfortably in the mountainside at 428 meters above sea level; it is a superb choice for either holiday or full time living.

When you wander through the narrow cobbled streets of this Andalucian village, you can understand what has attracted foreigners to settle here over the years. Many artists and writers have made it their home, enjoying the benefits of an excellent all year round climate, without being part of the busier, more commercial coastal towns just 7 kilometres down the mountain side.

Mijas itself offers you:

Shopping with high quality jewellery, ceramic and leatherware in addition to excellent artisan and craft shops.

Excellent Restaurants – The restaurants in Mijas have deservedly built up an excellent reputation for their high quality food and friendly service.

Its Tourist Information Office situated above the Municipal Car Park in Plaza Virgen de la Peña, where information can be obtained on local events, concerts and nearby attractions.

The Ayuntamiento (Town Hall) with its beautiful marble patio with fountains, a popular choice for weddings. If you decide to marry in Mijas,we will be pleased to help you organise this happy event.

Constitution Square – a fabulous place to sit enjoying a meal or drink in one of the local restaurants and just watch the world pass by.

Shrine Virgen of the Rock: The Shrine holds the image of the patroness of Mijas, the Virgin of the Rock. Legend has it that the image of the Virgin was hidden during 5 centuries and was found in 1586 by the father of two shepherd boys who were led to the hiding place by a dove.

"El Carromato de Max": A museum of miniatures, one of the most important of its kind with works from over 50 countries.

The Casa Museo: Established in 1995 the Museum reproduces a traditional village house and informs you of local traditions.

Church Inmaculada Concepcion: Built in 1541 on the site of an ancient Moorish castle, one of the castle towers was used as a bell tower. A series of frescos of the Apostles date back to approximately 1632.

Fortress walls: La Ruta del Botanica The remnants of the fortress that used to protect the village with its pretty gardens and spectacular view point.

Malaga Wine museum – well worth a visit with its selection of wines from all over the world.

San Sebastian Street – this typical street is one of the most picturesque and photographed streets of the coast.

Mijas is quite simply beautiful! But don’t take our word for it – come and see for yourself.

3/5

"Quiet place, fabulous view, average apartment"

Pozitive:
- good price even in high season
- unic location in Mijas (close to local bodegas, restaurants, pubs)
- very well equipped (especially the kitchen)
- nice view from rooms and from balcony
- air conditioning
- smooth booking and check-in process
- quiet place

Negative:
- no parking (and very difficult to park on the street in Mijas, because after 5 pm all the places are taken)
- it is hard to access by car as the streets are really narrow in Mijas
- unfortunately the apartment need to be paid in full 8 weeks in advance (i thinks it is not competitive if you compare with booking.com)
- the apartment has too much decoration, fell a bit crowded

Overall experience:
Joanne (the owner/administrator) is really friendly, she also provided great communication during the booking process. I would recommend this apartment in Mijas only if you will have a car during your holiday (bear in mind that is hard to find parking space). It is about 15 minutes drive from the nearest beach. I think is good price for the service you get, but the apartment is only average.

Hello and thank you for your review. This is a nice apartment located in an excellent position and reasonably priced considering bills and cleaning are included. As for the negatives there is no need for a car here as you can walk everywhere in Mijas. It is hard to park everywhere in Mijas and not only here since there is not a lot of parking, and yes the streets are narrow, but it is part of what makes Mijas such a charming place. It just wouldn't be Mijas with ample roads and lots of cars parked everywhere. And you have to pay 8 weeks in advance with all the properties we manage for various reasons. Best regards.
