The Costa del Sol/Malaga region
The town of Malaga is about twenty minutes on the 340 where Picasso was born and has many historical buildings/museums and amazing architechture as well as the famous marina of Puerto banus and Nikki Beach near by in Marbella, Puerto Banus is worth going to see for the varied night life and extensive restaurants/ bars and designer shops for that little extra treat!!
The Costa del Sol has approx 300 days of sunshine so is great for late short breaks.
The beautiful litte village of Mijas is aproxx 30min .you could also take an hours ferry trip (extremely enjoyable) from Fuengerola to the Marina in Benalmadena and spend the day there. For the more adventurous there is Rhonda or even a trip to Morocco for all those bargains.or Gibraltar for you're duty free gifts
Mijas Golf area
The Promenade in Fuengerola (which has one of the oldest fishing villages in Andalucia) extends for 6km along the sea front which you can enjoy just strolling along the promenade, go sunbathing on the beach, or sit and watch the world go by.
There is fun for all the family at the waterpark which is open daily during high season ,also horse riding if you are feeling energetic ,if sking is you're thing the Sierra Navada Mountains are only a 90 min drive away.and Granada is well worth a trip also.
There is also a large no of bars and restaurants to suit every taste (especially at the marina end.commonly know as fish alley ) with much entertainment included until the early hours of the morning .
For the shopaholic there is the largest market in Fuengerola on a Tuesday morning, with many more on other days if you cant make tuesday, a free newspaper called the Sur will advise you of many other markets & activities.on other days.
For the racegoers The Hippodrome have races during the high season but best to check in the Sur when they are on.which is an extremely pleasant day out. T here are numerous golf courses within a 5km radius. Places to visit within easy reach are Marbella, Puerto Banus, Benalmadena Port, Rhonda and Nerja. La Cala and Cabopino Beaches are only minutes away .
How to get there
Fly to Malaga -30km (approx 25 min drive from airport).
Car Hire available at airport (we find Aurigacrown Car Hire excellant) also Train from airport to Fuengerola Station, then short taxi ride to apartment.
Easyjet /BMI do good deals on flights.

We (four of us) stayed here for one week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves ,the apartment was surprisingly large and very comfortable,and great for a morning dip just outside the apartment, the info you provided was invaluable, and to have so many golf courses /restaurants/shopping / near by was great .
